The whole point was to avoid the hybrid and the needless complexity. The current Jetta is rated at 40 highway anyways and gas is cheap. Hybrids make no sense at the moment

The point was that the hybrid has DSG and is quicker at legal speeds in addition to having 40% better mpg and a lower price with better equipment.
