It’s wild that the plug gaps caused so many issues. I didn’t even check the gaps on my plugs, just tossed them in out of the box and the car runs crazy hard.
It really didn't make any sense. When I bought the car a couple of years ago I googled the gap and the general consensus was about .055 for the NGKs I was running. So I put em there. It ran fine. It's been slowwwwly bogging like this for the last couple of events but I just figured that it needed a tune.
Next on my list is to find the antifreeze leak that's slowly making its way down to my steering rack. I'm not sure if it's a loose hose clamp from pulling the intake manifold off so many times, or a gasket on the water pump or something. This week I'll get in there and clean the hell out of it so I can find where it starts.

Not until something breaks...which should be a very long time. I have zero desire to screw with it.
It should keep slaying lambos for a long time now.
It IS a Lambo...

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.

Very weird. Did the plugs look good otherwise?

That plug on cylinder 2 that was gapped to .060 was a little whiter than the others. I always have to look it up in the back of one of my Haynes manuals to remember what that means

Lean, IIRC
Which might make sense if it was gapped wider than the rest.

One thing I wanted to mention, Rivals in the rain..... are a death trap.
I thought my worn down RE-71Rs were bad, but omg. On our way back from Baton Rouge at the autocross I hit a patch of REALLY REALLY nasty rain. I hydroplaned multiple times and had to lower my speed to 45-50mph on the interstate. That pattern does not clear water out at all. I feel bad for people at nationals that only had those tires on their cars.

I just don't drive my car in the rain.
If I had SCCA Autocrosses in my town I wouldn't have to drive 1-2 hours away for each event. I don't drive the car in the rain either at home, but we get torrential downpours out of nowhere in the hurricane season so I'm bound to get some weather changeups to and from events.

Yep, I won't be anymore really from whenever I get the new poverty-mobile on out. Kinda and my next tires on Barrett's wheels will likely be more aggressive.
I'm hoping to go with 275/40/17 all around to keep costs .
Maxxis Vitra VR-1 seems like the best tire for my application but only comes in 255/17... I might go with the Falken Azinis RT615K or one of the Nitto tires. I want something that won't shred on track like the PSS but I can use on the street for fun drives too.
I wonder if the Firestone Indy 500 would shred on track. They're cheap and available, well reviewed.
Cliff notes. in puddled water the RE-71 will hydroplane but go more straight where you're pointing, the Rival will turn sideways.
Can confirm.....Wigged the fuck outta me Sunday.

255 would fit those wheels fine, and if you don’t care about how it looks, might be a solid way to go. I’ve heard good things about the Maxxis but also the Azenis. I’d probably go with the Falkens for cost and see how they go.

RS4 in 255, they run super wide and are used by the endurance racers so they'll hold up better than autox tires.

Glad I'm not the only one.
But hey, it's anyway so...
I’m just too lazy to wash it all the time. Not driving it in the rain keeps it cleaner.

Dat wash
washes are fine for the truck, but on the car things like water spots and messy wheels :trigger: me. I've only hand washed the and I'm pretty thorough when I do, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

97.5% of my rain driving on the RE's is done in TN. There isn't a flat road up there, and most are banked, so there is little to no standing water.
Wet roads, they do fantastic, standing water means they get the car on a plane and lose grip.
I don't drive mine in the rain either, it's just not as fun, and I'm more concerned with the derps on the road.

Same experience on the FiST w/ 205's. Wet grip is great, but standing water is...interesting.
