I was thinking about the Aldan coilovers when they started talking about them on the CF. I think they're about $1,250 and I was seriously contemplating them but I decided that I needed to get more driver mod under my belt before spending any more money on the car. They got some great reviews, and some guy posted up his autocross time comparisons showing his progress. It was impressive, but I'm pretty satisfied with not having to spend money on the car to make it competitive. When Alan came over and we couldn't even get his car on my quickjack without putting it on some 1/2" boards it made me reconsider wanting to go any lower than I already am (I'm 3 threads away from bottoming out on the stock leaf height bolts).

$1k can buy you some REALLY nice shocks, while $1.2k can buy some mediocre at best coil overs. A mod like that, nobody will review completely objectively.Acid666 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:43 pm I was thinking about the Aldan coilovers when they started talking about them on the CF. I'd buy the shocks.

I agree. That's kinda what turned me off from ordering. I went with yellow Konis and I'm happy with that so far. I'd go cheap on a cheaper car, but for the C5 there's certain things that aren't worth airboat'nDetroit wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 3:24 pm$1k can buy you some REALLY nice shocks, while $1.2k can buy some mediocre at best coil overs. This guy makes it sound like 100 so split the difference and call it 50?
Well, I installed my R100 passenger seat in the C5 this weekend. It is a nice seat for $300... but a really tight squeeze in the C5, it can't slide back quite all the way. I'm glad I went QRT-R for driver's side, but this thing is for someone not wanting to pay $800+ for a seat, who is larger, or who doesn't drive as hard. Majorly better support than stock and looks good. It can go far enough back for me to sit comfortably as well.
The new R100 is passenger side, so zero farts to date. The driver's seat... well, it's only been in for 6ish months and it has plenty o farts already. More to come.

Oh shit, of course! I the yellow Z. not
I took the C5 to Carolina Motorsports park this weekend, 9 sessions on track, three in the wet. Man, in the wet I had very minimal grip, I think my tarz are about donezo. I will likely pick up a new set for May, might try to do another day or two on track with them.
I believe I got four-five TOTD days, two TNIA at Charlotte Motor Speedway, two days at VIR, and three or four days at CMP with the Falkens. I think I may just get these tires again but a little bit wider.

My tires are on their last leg. They're sliding around a lot more. Good news is that it's controllable like a wicked drift. Bad news is that it just ain't gripping.
I'm on the fence about slicks for a season. Price is high, and they wear quicker. Right now I'm more inclined to drop my money into the Lemons car and the Meowta but I'm really debating hard on some Hoosiers

I'm actually cosidering jumping over to autox in 2021. Trackdaybro is fun as hell but I kind of want to compete in something and club racing is a rich man's game.
