Only in the sense that it's a minivan masquerading as an "SUV". It actually has the most interior space in the segment, and it's ridiculously quiet. It's boring AF, but not a bad vehicle.

The only thing I liked about any of the 4 I drove when the Colorado was in for service was they had HIDs. It’s a stupid vehicle and was slow as shit. 0/7 can not recommend.

My neighbor's wife just got a promotion at Blue Cross where she gets a car allowance. HQd in Detroit, she's required to get a "big 3" vehicle to qualify for the allowance. I think it's ridiculous.

My limited experience would concur with this. A coworker of mine bought his wife a current-gen Acadia when they came out; he drives a 2014 MDX. It's since been replaced by a new RDX - they had nothing but problems with it and generally hated the thing. I drove a first gen Traverse on a work trip several years ago and found it to be genuinely terrible to drive as well.

I am more impressed that a 1960s job perk is still a thing. Does she also have a pension?!

Car allowance is usually used en lieu of more money here. Because people are stuck in the 1960s. I don't see getting a car I don't want for free as a perk, and thus have minimal interest in being promoted to mgmt because that's the only tangible benefit for lots of stress and BS.

I’d value that at about 5k a year. But it just seems like a lot of work to do… internally for this. But perhaps some get :triggered: . Like omg I get 50k a year + car which is way better than 75k and No car.

I’ve seen sales people offered a car allowance in lieu of paying mileage reimbursements.

Right, I don't know if it's a regional :derp: thing or not, but yea...I think companies figured out it's cheaper to give people cars than pay them more. I also wonder if there's a tax thing or something? Or maybe the companies get kick backs from the OEMs? It's stupid IMO.

How much is the allowance? Also, it seems kind of worthless right now in the current car market.

Our managers constantly put out surveys asking how people want to be recognized for doing a good job and why. I keep saying, "Money, and for the same reason this company doesn't accept attaboys as payment from customers."

They still just hand out points that can be redeemed for gift cards that are then reported as taxable income.

Better than nothing. My (now former) company never gave anything, no surveys, no rewards, not even raises for COL. What a POS.

Almost. Last day was 7/30. I rage quit Monday after being screamed at to do something I believe is unethical and will ruin the product I'm responsible for.

I 100% see how dieselgate happened and something like it will absolutely happen again.

I've got enough cash on hand to last a year, but I've got 3 solid job prospects that I'm at or near final rounds on, soooo I might be back to work quickly. I was really hoping to take at least August off and maybe the rest of the year, BUT it'll be hard to turn down a good opportunity when offered to me. I'm not rushing any.

Yeah, there isn't much of anything that intrigues me from the Big 3 where $600 would cover payments and insurance. It helps, obviously, but what's the plan when the car is paid off? Or do they expect you to just lease for all of eternity?

Lease forever or replace the car every 3 years.
