I spent all weekend moving shit. Rented a 6x12 u-haul trailer...which was virtually impossible to find because of all the people moving up here, and got a good load of stuff. Came back to
who ripped the carpet out of our bedroom and painted a few other rooms. She was in over her head and a fight ensued and we worked it out. All chill now, and we have a real couch in the living room now.
Fun fact...furniture is sold out everywhere. We had to fight people at RH outlet to get the couch we did. This world is borked like
foot bones.
It's weird. Things are relatively normal here? Moving trucks/trailers are available. Haven't stepped foot in a furniture store in ages, but I suspect it's mostly fine as well.
I'm legit glad to hear that it's normal somewhere.
I got a quote for a 6x12 u-haul trailer from Detroit to Traverse City and it was $450. If I picked it up in TC and returned in TC, it would be $60. So I picked it up in TC on Saturday morning, and I picked up the only trailer. Cool, this is a small u-haul distributor I thought. Returned the trailer this morning and there were easily 50+ trailers in the parking lot. Got there before they opened, and was unhooking the trailer on my own when a worker came up to assist. He said he came in early on Monday's because "Monday's are insane"...all the trailers there were returned over the weekend and he'd never seen so many and had no idea where they came from
We sold many furniture pieces with our house in Detroit...so we needed a couch. Went to a number of places that told us we might be able to get something my next March (due to backlogs), so we went to the Restoration Hardware outlet that was sold out of just about everything. They told us a truck was coming in the next day, so we came back as they were unloading the couch we bought and bought it on the spot. I picked it up with my dad on Saturday with the Uhaul trailer, and a dude offered me retail price for it (we paid $2,500 for a $6,000 couch), but I had to decline because I knew the wife would kill me.
It's a crazy time right now, at least in the mitten state.
