Our little one is beginning to walk. She takes 5-15 steps at a time and then falls on her butt. It’s so fucking cute

Obviously sleeping well, posting at 3:40am.
Fucking awful. All of it is pretty horrific at this point. 2 hr inconsolable screaming sessions, blowing out diapers, breastfeeding is a disaster because he can't pull a vacuum, bottle feeding is ok ish but he pulls in so much air he gets gassy and then screams and is impossible to get to sleep. Both those last ones due to a "tongue tie" where he can't move his tongue to the roof of his mouth. So far we're up to 3 specialists and 2 lactation consultants... today we took him to a chiropractor :waxer: oh and he screamed as loud as possible for the entire 45 minute drive out there for reasons we still don't understand. Yesterday was super special, he needs to feed every 3 hrs, and by the time he finally shut the fuck up and went to sleep, he got 30 mins of sleep before we were waking him again for more food.

Because of this, and because he's too young to interact or smile or giggle or give any feedback at all, I pretty much hate the little guy.

Fuck this. He's cute though. When he's asleep. When he's awake its just constant screaming unless he's feeding.

My favorite part? I'm unemployed, Lisa left her job, we are on her insurance plan for now but it's :lolol: fucking useless. Hospital bill? $7k. Insurance pays $1500, you pay $5500. Because it's a Tier 2 hospital (there are no Tier 1 hospitals in Philly.....) Insurance doesn't cover chiropractor, doesn't cover tongue tie surgery, etc. So why the fuck am I paying $900/mo for this?

Sorry bro, i went through the same shit without the financial noose around my neck, not that I was comfortable but just not getting sucked into a vortex like this description above.

The crying sounds like a hunger issues, tounge tie needs to get fixed pronto... if I were stuck right there I would look at thickening the drink with rice milk right before you guys need some sleep, he might be out for two hours.

When he's down he sleeps for like 3-4 hours at a time, which is great. But like just now.... he finally went to sleep but was basically up and screaming since 5 PM.

Poor kiddo and you guys too, it is a lot to contend with mentally right now. No worries about not loving the kid, that stuff will come with time and everything will keep improving like weekly.

People that haven't had kids have no idea how tough it is at times, it changes a person for the better doe.... toughens us up! My wife went through a serious bout of postpartum that turned into depression and she is now finally digging her way out of it with naturopathic remedies and excercise. I have been through a lot of mental anguish over the last eight years but noticed that each stage of the kids development and another relief and makes things easier. After about two it gets kind of fun and by the time the kid is four we are all relatively sane again! 🤪 Most of my struggles happened during my participation in this forum, time flies and the negative is replaced with greatness. I survived two and now my balls are snipped shut, good ridden to future :crotchfruit:

Johnny, you gotta get that tongue tie fixed. https://www.infantlaserdentistry.com/
Vast majority of insurance doesn’t cover it, but that’s where we went and they do a great job and understand the insurance issues. Iirc it was around $500.

Or, do bottles. If the baby is taking in too much air and that’s a problem, you need to find the bottle that works. Different styles and speeds make a big difference. It might take trying a bunch. That young it should be a slow nipple, the slowest possible.

The first three months are usually the worst it will be and then it gets better from there. Some moms call the first three months the 4th trimester just to make light of it.

Hang in there dude. I remember hearing almost the exact same words from my brother and SIL word for word. The little thing is kind of an alien..
just a squirmy little sucker that makes a lot of screaming, but indecipherable demands. Couple more months youre going to see the kiddo's personality shine and its all gonna make a lot more sense. More open eyes, more smiles, more interaction and responses....the "daddy!" reach and giggles.

As far as jerbs go, dont know your specific expertise aside that you are an engineer but im happy to ask around in my circles as im also local, for what its worth. As to what I DO know, youre a pretty level headed smart guy so youll be alright.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Feeling like that is common, but that doesn't make it any easier. Taking care of a new baby and being a parent are some of the toughest things I've ever had to do. We did have a fairly easy time with my son, but we've had similar feelings with the twins.

First of all, to all of the "it gets better" people, :stfu:. It does, but it takes a LONG, LONG time. That's absolutely no comfort when the next day feels just like the previous one and there's no end in sight. All I can say is, take some long, deep breaths, buy stock in your favorite brewery or winery, and get through it one day or even one sleep cycle at a time. There's really no other way to do it. My only practical advice is, once you get the tongue tie issue resolved, if he's still having digestive issues on breast milk, Lisa may want to try changing up her diet. I'm hearing more and more from friends that not eating dairy while breast feeding (crazy, right?) actually made some kids' colic go away. I think there were some other eliminations too, but I don't remember what they were, I'll ask the wife if I remember to.

Babies suck. Anyone who thinks otherwise just likes to hold other peoples' kids. They suck. But eventually they turn into human beings and I try to remember that when I'm looking at the twins in fury because they won't stop screaming at me, and think about my future 3 or 4 year old daughters in there yelling "daddy!" when I get home from work or waking me up too early on a Saturday morning because she wants a waffle for breakfast. My son is 2 now and he's an absolute ball. He has his terrible 2 moments too, but he's the sweetest kid and I wouldn't trade my time with him now for anything in the world.

.....

I really haven't posted anything about the twins, but the girls are just past 5 months old now and they're starting to get better, but we still have our moments. There were times when it sounded like a good idea to get in the car and keep driving until I hit the left coast, then hop in the ocean and swim until I just couldn't anymore. These two are so needy, so moody, so impatient and sensitive that I wasn't sure I'd emerge with my sanity at the other end. Hell, in some ways I still resent them, even though the days are easier. We had to scrap plans to buy a bigger house in our old neighborhood because we couldn't afford it with 3 kids instead of 2, so here we are out in the 'burbs where every time I take a walk I still feel like I'm in a bad dream I need to wake up from. I have to sell the GTI and buy a car I'll hate because we have 3 kids instead of 2. We're staring down more than $3,200/mo of daycare bills with 3 kids, we now have 3 529 plans to try to fund, etc. Our whole lives were turned upside down because kid #2 ended up being kids #2 and #3. But now I can't imagine not having both girls, so we deal and move on. And fuck are they cute.

Hang in there, bro.

Thanks Coogles. Real talk. I appreciate you sharing your experience. My neighbor asked how I was yesterday and I basically said not good. He said it gets better but don’t try to put your own arbitrary timeline on it because it could take a while. He then kind of backtracked and said it’s not so much that it gets better but it changes and you’re able to cope a bit more.

So chiropractor appointment.... kid was completely inconsolable for a few hours yesterday. And for the first time, couldn't take a bottle. Couldn't generate any suction. I eventually got him to suck on my finger, but it was super weak. He's been unable to breastfeed at all today and is chomping his way through bottles.

Johnny, this is who we took Jack to with similar issues. I was a significant doubter of the whole thing and it actually caused a lot of marriage conflict for us, but he really helped him and helped us with our first.

Yeah chiropractor did similar work.
His suck returned today. But that was pretty scary yesterday that he couldn’t eat normally.

Buddy of mine and his wife just found out they’re having twins. They had to do IVF, and apparently none of the doctors ever mentioned that the chance of multiples is increased doing that :lolwut: so they were pretty shocked to hear two heartbeats in the appointment the other day.

Oh yeah, that’s way more common with IVF.
