Well he finally earned the popular vote.
*golfclap*
Too bad nothings really going to come of it tho.
I was going to ask... so Sir Cheeto is going to trial next? He called it Impeachment Lite.... and doesn't seem too worried about it.
What's the ?
Edit: Jokes picture
Right...it goes to the Senate next for trail...which is republican lead, so nothing is going to happen. The only real achievement here was dividing the country even further.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.

Steak and Mac for dinner.
Steak was a little thinner than I realized, so it’s slightly more done than I’d like, but it’s still tasty. 12oz rib eye.
Now I’m stoned about about to watch Home Alone whole I eat.
Man...we watched Home Alone last week in an altered state, and it was 5/7. That movie is hilarious.

What’s sad and worrisome is I’m not sure if the country can ever be united again.

After this, it's going to take something drastic to unite the country. It's really sad...we're entering dark, dark times.

I am sad about that too, and feel like we have similar tensions on our side of the border just the same. The french province wants to separate, and the oil province ditto. Basically nobody is happy with policy mandates but they are paralyzed until the next four year election. Ontario (Toronto region specifically) holds too many cards and are very socialist in voting nature. I can't imagine what a major economic downturn would do to us all, but suspect it would be ugly.
Should be a fun day at work today.
Pot luck followed by a Secret Santa grab bag gift exchange, followed by a white elephant gift exchange. Should get back to work around 3:00
Already got a bottle of Spanish wine from a coworker and a coffee mug full of little rumchata covfeffe creamers from another coworker.
Where are these mangos?

Yep.
IMO, we need to abolish the 2 party system and get good people in office. IDGAF about party, worry about the country.
Step 1: prevent career criminals, I mean politicians. Any citizen can do the job, but only for 4 years. Then you're out with no lifetime healthcare paid by the people or other perks.

I love this time of year. I want a nice coffee this morning with a 50/50 mix of booze.

I like term limits in theory, but that system will ensure that only wealthy people run for office. Who's going to throw away 4 years of career development for no reward except for those who have already "made it" (or been bought)?
I don't know how to fix it. Money ruins every system.

I would think you would be perfect for the position... or anyone really. Many people wouldn't be really impacted by a break in their job, and I think that we'd have a boatload more "average people" running the show.... obviously with some level of competence in normal life needed (no total whackos).
Heck, we could make it like jury duty, so you can't lose your job if you serve.

That's pretty much a variant of the idea from Plato's Republic and could be a good way to do it. Compulsory service by regular people without regard for ambitions. Hasn't been tried since proposed over 2000 years ago though, isn't looking like it'll happen.

Yeah, there's no way it will happen. The people in power are not going to just give it up. We'd have to take it. The thing is, 90% of the people believe fully in the idea that these criminals are looking out for them, the only difference at all is which side of the aisle the lies they believe are coming from.

Dunno about 90% (half of people don't even vote) but you're right that no one is going to willingly give up power.
I suspect that most people are like me in that, while I don't think either side has my interests in mind, I'm not willing to dedicate (and possibly give) my life as part of a futile crusade.
Things aren't that bad here yet and, even if they were, I'd rather go somewhere else than fight for a place I don't love anyway.

Do I detect a hint of optimism in you?
I still think that 90% believe the bullshit, no matter if they vote or not. Rarely do I run into someone like me that believes none of it and has a true disdain for politics.
