Tentative plan for Seattle is fly in Thursday night. Hike during the day on Friday, then get drinks somewhere out on the town that night. Do the touristy stuff for Michelle on Saturday day, then just chill at my buddy’s place and grill up some food there for dinner. Fly home Sunday morning
Jax is gonna be up there that time too, so possibly meet up with him and his wife while out drinking Friday night.

Have you been to the aquarium down by the water? It's pretty cool.

I don’t believe so. I’m guessing their kid is tagging along with us during Saturday’s outing, so I’ll suggest that if they haven’t already taken him there a bunch.wap wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 11:56 amSounds like fun.SAWCE wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 11:24 am Tentative plan for Seattle is fly in Thursday night. The kid will probably like it. You can pet sea cucumbers. At least you could when we were there several years ago.

I had a dream that I bought 2 bikes from a shop located in the middle of a lava flow. I was confused as to why I bought 2, as I only wanted one of them and didn't know how I would get both back on the plane with me. Then I took the redhead porn star cashier girl across the street to get a coffee where a bunch of flatbrim bros were drinking beers.

My company sent out an email this morning... new employee recognition program.
You can recognize people for basically any reason, doing a good job, positive attitude, cleanup efforts, whatever. You get a poker chip, and can display the poker chip to show your recognition superiority. Or keep it in your pocket as a constant reminder that you're doing a good job. Other options are a card, or a hard hat sticker.
Uh. How about a yearly bonus instead? Money is usually a good way to recognize people?

GM did this. It was all digital and people could recognize you for random things that met the company's "core behaviors". Directors had "points" they could award if they really liked something.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:11 am My company sent out an email this morning... new employee recognition program.

The points could be redeemed for items on a digital store. I never really paid attention to the system, and when I knew I was leaving, a coworker told me that I could turn the points into amazon gift cards. I went on and had $650 worth of amazon gift cards!
I thought that was pretty neat that the company actually compensated recognition. This was in addition to our annual bonuses even...which mine sucked last year because the company didn't meet the targets that I had zero control over. At least I got my amazon cards!

That is pretty cool. Our poker chips are theoretically worth $1 at the cafeteria, so says the email. So instead of $11 for chicken fingers and fries its $10. What stops a shitty person from walking around and stealing the poker chips proudly on display?Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:35 amThat is pretty cool. Knowing that such an action will prevent them from getting poker chips, obvi.
I have a big wooden desk. I'd probably bring in my drill and drill them into the side of teh desk. lol.

Northrop has something like the digital recognition at GM, but it wasn’t tied to any online store or redeemable for anything. AFAIK the only people who saw them were the person being recognized, their manager, and the person sending the recognition. Maybe managers took it into account during yearly appraisals, but who knows.

Also, we have a dream thread.
