NJ got rid of safety inspections a couple years ago and the number of cars with missing headlights, bald tires, bad brakes, and other very unsafe maladies has skyrocketed.
Back in the day...one had to take at least a half day off from work to get inspected at a state run inspection station...... A Full Day to do anything at DMV
Fun Fact..... they checked brakes by stopping distance....a trooper would get in, floor it and SLAM on the brakes......
Where do I apply for that job?

Safety inspections are one thing I didn’t have in Florida that I am happy to pay for in Virginia because it helps keep raggedy ass cars off the roads.
Just like mandatory insurance requirements, people will defy the law.
In Virginia it’s not as easy to get away with it because state police will either prosecute the driver or the shop that “falsely passed” a non-roadworthy vehicle.
But by your logic why have laws at all if people will break them???

DFD. The forum where everybody makes the same choices and then tells anybody trying to join the club that they are the stupidest motherfucker to ever walk the earth.

Give CCW national reciprocity, just like a drivers license, and lets see what happens.

and fix-it tickets were and now also non-existent, unlike cali until recently. In our area in particular, emmision regulations are also more stricter as opposed to rest of VA. I remember back in dead forum some local owners had issues with stage 2 for passing the inspection. We recently adopted detectors too like in Cali for couple years now.
You might as well call the Nova/dc metro area as east coast of commifornia for that alone

Phone interview earlier seemed to go well, but hard to read emotion over the phone. Interviewed with the manager of contracts, said I'd hear early next week about a phone or in-person interview with whoever I'd report to as a direct supervisor if I got the job. See what happens.
just more taxes we have to pay and a yearly inconvenience.
I'm very very pro inspection after traveling this country and seeing some of the shit that passes for cars.
all they do here is troll rich hoods for people that are a month over for the ~200 dollar of ticket revenue while rides dirty af all over town with bald tires and no cats (but working brake lights, they aint dumb)
