I haven't done my taxes yet. I don't want to know how much I have to pay until after I get back from Vegas this weekend. Early guesstimates point to about another $95k owed, even after claiming single, 0 and pulling an additional $800 from each paycheck all year long.

I love this country, but holy shit the taxes are getting redic. I might need to find a nice country that is inexpensive, likes white guys and isn't going to require that I have an armed security detail just to stay alive.
:impressive:

I'm curious, and not trying to be a dick or anything just asking, does paying that much in taxes actually limit you? Or is it more of an annoyance? Or that it's going to pay for things you don't support?

I do OK salary wise, and the amount of taxes paid does put a hurt in the feels, and I guess does limit me. Like, if I got the entire paycheck amount sans taxes, I could afford double the house, that sort of thing. But I don't know if you ever cross over that line into a land where the taxes aren't limiting.

You don't have to answer if its too personal nbd.
Well, I like to buy stuff and spend money on expensive stuff like the few trips we take per year going first class on everything. Paying out the money after the normal paycheck hit is really more of a :wtf: feeling and kinda like I'm paying for "nothing" in return. I've got goals to be able to buy stuff and have disposable income after I retire and not have to worry, so the more that goes out on things I don't want just digs at me.

The whole tax situation pisses me off to no end if I get into it... Like, why should I as a property owner with zero kids pay the bonds for schools in our local property taxes? All the apartment dwellers with 9 kids with unknown fathers vote for this stuff and they never actually pay those taxes... People being encouraged by the system to not look for work and stay on the government subsidy and stuff like that. Then the whole batch of fucknut socialist morans we have in office right now making stupid claims of 70% tax rates and free everything for everyone and no more ICE engine cars or airplanes.... we could go on forever about it, but if those lunatics actually get there way there is no chance in hell I will live here to deal with them. Probably best to not go down that road now. :)

Property taxes piss me off way more than income taxes for the reasons you list. We pay a fortune for minimal return and it absolutely hinders where we can live and what we do.

But I'm fortunate that the last few years we've gotten nothing and owed nothing on income tax. I've been putting off this year, hopefully it's the same.

First day is 4/1. I'm taking a :millennial: break between jobs. I'll let you know what I find out but supposedly, FCA allows employees to give out discounts to friends as well as family, unlike GM.

Hey there my good pal... :hubba:

Glad to hear you're getting a bit of a break between to reset. Hopefully you get in with a team that is a bit better than your last, but I think we all know there is no perfect place in this field.. everyone has a bit of insanity that makes you wonder how things get done and money gets made.

I've never taken time off between jobs ever. I was on a fast track to burnout in the last gig, so I really needed the break.

I'm expecting the new team to be just as screwed as the last, that way I'm not disappointed when it is. But I'm getting paid considerably more and working for a company that I have more overall confidence in so it's the right move. Plus, Gladiator.

It seems FCA is more willing to try crazy shit. Could make the job more interesting if there's less red tape to get something considered for production. Could also be a shit show.

Hope it works out well for you. in4 Gladiator. in4 friends discounts.

:like: yeah I get the animosity towards taxes in general. I try and look on the bright side, but things like road conditions, government waste, pointless public works projects, etc really chap my ass, especially since I'm confronted with them daily in the city. And you're right about the system incentivising people to be lardasses. In Philly there is a huge push to try and get street sweeping re-started. But it's a monstrous cost to do so, and really only being talked about because people will throw their trash on the street and refuse to clean it up, and then get mad that they mayor isn't doing it for them. I'm one of the weirdos that will walk my block monthly and clean the trash. I usually get 1-2 people staring at me wondering what crime I committed that I have to do this community service, and 1-2 people who offer me a beer for cleaning up the trash heap they push their strollers through.

For something flat-soled like Vans, just get some custom orthopedic insoles for them. Get the arch support you need with a nice flat outer sole.

Out of the position yeah. Into a different role, that I'm not overly thrilled about but it's a temp thing until I can get interviews with the downtown office. Get into a more bidnezz setting, get some exec training, and gtfo.

Yeah I was doing that but it doubles the price of the shoe. The insoles fall apart at the same rate the shoes do, from my experience. The Nike ones had enough support that an insole wasn't necessary, with a flat sole, normal looks. Just a complete shit company.

Gotcha..

What makes Nike a shit company? That's all I've worn for years. I don't pay attention to news or shit, so not sure what's going on with them. I saw stuff about people burning their Nikes last year, but :whocares: I'm not gonna waste my time figuring out why. The shoes fit well and are comfortable.

Although, I will agree with :waxer: that the sizing could be more consistent.

Anyways.. as for a shoe suggestion.. back when I skated, I really liked Emerica. Flat outer sole to maximize board feel, but enough arch support for me.

Not sure what their current offerings are like since I haven't worn them in years, but the Reynolds pro model was always a go-to for me, if they make the Reynolds 3 still, I probably had 4-5 pairs of that one. This kid Leo Romero had a very minimalist looking shoe with them that still skated and wore well. Kirchart's shoes were a little more bulky, but I doubt they still make them.. he retired like 10 years ago.

Still making the Reynolds 3

https://www.emerica.com/us/footwear/rey ... 15#start=6

Romero still has a shoe with them too, but this is different than what I had back then.

Their Wino shoe, both slip-on and lace-up, used to be called the Ridgemont, and it's their equivalent of the Vans Classic. Minimal arch support, and sits a little too low around your ankle my taste these days. Fuck back then at one point I had that shoe in like 15 different graphics/colors.

They basically build them with slave labor, don't pay a living wage to their workers, and the workers get trapped in a circle of never being able to leave.

:word: Good on you for trying to buy from a company that doesn't do that, but unfortunately I feel like that's going to be how most shoes are manufactured.. Let me know what you find though, I'd be down to switch brands for something a little more ethical.
