"Do more with less" is the new hip corporate culture these days. Super :|
That's been "new" since before we were born.

wait. :wat:

Why you mad that 60%+ households make over $200k? income of the 1970s is extremely marginalized. That graph is showing the cumulative percent of people making more are now making much more, and the other group of people are making the same. :flaccid: Its really good when more people make more money than they use to :mahtroy:

combine that with the cost inflation/purchasing power and you have to make a shit ton more money. Why the fuck dont people contrast income w/ purchasing power. They focus so hard on the adjusted income values and not what has happened to the buying power. :rage:

also. 200k is a FUCKING BULLSHIT stopping number. Should show 500k and 1M. Thats more important. $200k household income is pretty fucking average now.

CEO just announced that they're going to back-fill his spot with an "entry level quote specialist". :bs: They're trying to fill his spot with a less experienced person so they can pay them less, even though they haven't hired anyone to fill the gap left by my boss when he left months ago. They keep cutting corners like this and shoveling more work onto those of us who are still here, but that's not sustainable.
Or they are promoting someone and back filling the position with entry level. It's not always all :doom: there is clearly opportunity here.
Nope.. he came over and talked to us about it. Doug, the guy leaving, was hired the same day as I was. Our team is me, him, Yadgar (started less than a year before us), and Marissa (started like May of last year). The four of us all have the same title, and they're replacing him with the "entry-level" position. Org chart is CEO, Purchasing Manager, us. Very flat. No growth happening here.

Make more :waxer: and get something to slay highway miles in? :math:
Where they at?
Fairfield and another corporate office in Oakhurst, that I know of.

Oh so there are like six people there? I thought it was like 15
The whole company is like 15 people.. that includes our warehouse guys, an electrical engineer, two material expeditors, and a woman who interfaces with our manufacturing contractor to make sure things are on schedule at their plant.

Ahhhh
It's disappointing to see. Espeically after talking to one of the gals who is part of our sister company. She's basically an office administrator now, asked about becoming a buyer for us, and they told her they need her where she is. She knows our system, and is smart.. she'd learn the details of how we quote very quickly. She told me how much she makes today, and it seems like they aren't bringing her over because we make about double what she makes. So they're keeping her in her lower position, gonna hire somenew new who wont make as much as the rest of us buyers do, but will still make more than her. It would make much more sense to bring her on even if at that "entry-level" bs they're trying to do, then replace her as an office admin. That has to be easier to learn than our side of things, and she'd already have a leg up on the training for what we do instead of bringing in a completely fresh face.

I'm fairly confident that when you leave the military and apply what you know in the private sector you can make quite a bit more.

Smart guys that have military experience beyond holding a rifle actually command a good salary. I believe that part of it is that they are used to the chain of command and know how to give and take orders to get a job done.
I wouldn't disagree with you if I wasn't so specialized. For the few positions that are out there I could make well over 100k. But those are almost impossible to get at the moment. We shall see what the world looks like when its my time to move on. But yes the ability to follow a chain of command, lead subordinates, and finish tasks are all integral to military life. I've trained well over 75 people in the last few years and will teach hundreds more in these next 4 years.

Within the next two months ill have two associates degrees, one in Intelligence Studies and another in Instructor Technology of Military Science. Ill be teaching an accredited college course for four years. And hopefully within the next four years ill have completed my bachelors to round it out.

To say my resume wont be much stronger than it is now is an understatement. But there is much I still need to gain in technical experience.

Just remember, you don't need an exact fit job. You're smart enough to apply what you know to another role and come out on top.

Correct. Honestly im thinking when my time is up to just pull away from the DoD altogether and just go into the civilian world. Finance still interests me and thats what my bachelors will likely be in.

This would be a solid move. As stated before, you'll still have a leg up on your competition for jobs because of your vet status, but then you'll have a leg up for promotions too if you carry your military work ethic over to the civilian world and bust your ass.

Any WFH possible?
Probably. It’s a “sales” kind of role, basically the next step up for me in one direction and I meet all of the reqs for the position. There will be some travel involved within the state.

I’ll put in an application and see where things go... worst case? I get some interview experience.

You could always go into the contracting business, especially the government contractor behemoths, some of them have commercial branches if you want to avoid completely avoid the government as well, and they love vets and pay quite well, while offering a lot of training opportunities on top of your regular GI. Especially if you have secret (or any) clearance when you get out.
