Self-confidence isn't the issue. I know that I can do any technical task as well as anyone. What I can't do is convince anyone else that I am worth paying any attention to whatsoever. I need to learn how to and manipulate people the way that you do.[user not found] wrote:Therapy.troyguitar wrote: I haven't slept well for two nights in a row in at least 20 years. I watch other morans who I know can't think their way out of a logic 101 class go on to be beloved millionaires and wonder what the fuck is so wrong with me - each year it gets harder to say to myself "Well they're just getting lucky, sooner or later I'll catch up and succeed" - it's getting pretty damn late in the game for "later" to ever happen.
If you don't believe in yourself, no one else will. Unbridled confidence is SEXY and gets people jobs, right or wrong.

I'm the guy who orders a coffee at the counter at McDonald's and has to stand there for 10 full minutes waiting for someone to pour it for me while they take and fill 15 other people's orders and ignore me.
Every single negative thing in your employment history leads to more negative things which leads to never being hired which leads to anger which leads to hate. I pretty much hate everyone these days.

Last year around this time I was working 7-12's on a project, yeah I made over 100k for the first time, but I was fucking miserable. It did eventually end, but I was ready to quit.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 4:20 pmI'm honestly sick of having a gigantor bank account and doing literally nothing with it. What? Here's my schedule for the next year at work.
Now until end of December - Work 12 hour days 6 days a week, on call Sundays
Jan 4th (my birthday, fucking every goddamn time) until end of March - Work 13 hour days 7 days a week every other Sunday off but always on call.
July - Collective bargaining, prepare for union strike, possibly get locked in the plant if they do go on strike, operate the plant until an agreement can be reached. Weeks? Months? You work 12-13 hours a day, every day.
All this from my nice leaky roof can't-see-out-the-windows office with beautiful brand new picnic tables outside that are covered in a foot of goose shit.
NOPE NOPE NOPE. I can't handle this shit anymore.
Fortunately, I work for a good company, and people do see the improtance of a life outside of work, and I don't think I'll be working on projects for that client for a long time. I made it know that if I work for them, with those specific managers, I'm out.

Advice from a if your goal is to get hired at decent pay/hours/schedule, get hired at a big name company and grow. Doing your own free open source shit will not be enough because companies have hundreds of you progressing the "cutting edge" every day, which is like you taking out a loan to pay for a previous loan.troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:17 pmTo what?[user not found] wrote:Troy, the more I think about it the more I am convinced NAPA is a PERFECT stepping stone for you.

Can't get a dev job at a big company with no degree or experience. Open source is the only real way (besides a CS degree) to get the experience needed to get in the door.razr390 wrote:Advice from a if your goal is to get hired at decent pay/hours/schedule, get hired at a big name company and grow. Those coding boot camp things might also work, but I don't know if they are or if people really get hired out of them. Either way, you need to put in a lot of work for free before getting hired.

Lunch is the easiest thing. We just make too much food for dinner every few nights, and package up the left for lunch the next day. Works out great, and don't even need to think about lunch.
Immediately into more useful spots.

Yea, but @Apex truck doesn't have issues either. Would assume that it has the same emissions as Zil's truck did?[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 7:44 amPlays into Zils theory. If it's holding gear longer for emissions purposes, then it would be less likely you'd get the shudder.
