we had a fatality at an event at NOLA motorsports park this weekend. Halfmile racing a nissan GTR, dude crashed at 200 mph.
What happened?
not sure, maybe a chute failed to deploy?
maybe brakes?
Track condition was a factor..... as was the bad idea it was to run 200 in street cars with no cage. At "not a drag strip" Nola motorsports park.

Though to be fair this is more applicable to the security/sensitive roles but still, I wouldn’t want my company knowing anything more than they need to about my personal life. Also, if/when company data gets compromised, nothing of yours is vulnerable.

What’s everyone up to this weekend?
I will be in a wedding tomorrow. 5/7 will post suit selfie.

I'm not going to have a laptop anymore hopefully new job lets me use the work one for whatever.
I'd totally never do any NSFW things on a company provided electronic device. Typically grounds for termination, even if you bring it home.
It might be time to get a chrome book or something of the sort that that can do basic word/excel. I think most tablets have that built in now too. Seems like a $150 answer than waiting to use employer pc.

From the org's own page under "safety"
"Founded in order to fill a niche in the motorsports marketplace. Our goal was to create a safe and controlled environment for fellow car enthusiasts to pursue their “Need For Speed” without the restrictions of the standard 1/8 or 1/4 mile drag strip. See what it’s like to hit speeds you’ve only dreamed of without the risk of law enforcement or causing injury to others, while being surrounded by on-site safety personnel."
You know, like those NHRA safety restrictions....
One witness account implied that the driver was partially ejected. What a proper cage, seat, restraints, and window net may have prevented....

Yea, NHRA rules are there for a reason. They go real fast, all the time, and wreck ALOT.... most of the time they walk away.
Went out to dinner with a bunch of Michelle's friends, old coworkers, and some cousins on Saturday night for her birthday. One gal started talking about how she works for an aerospace company out here that I recently applied to. Told her I'd applied to a few buyer/procurement spots there, and she said to forward her the req numbers and my resume.. apparently she's the VP or something of Supply Chain Management there, so those roles would fall under her reach a bit. Could be cool to get some traction with these. Emailed her yesterday. Hopefully I'll hear something back at some point today at least acknowledging that she got my email.

May just be my security at play here but 5/7 would NOT do anything personal on company provided devices (be it DFD, finances, or )
My $0.02
Meh
I have used company provided devices exclusively for the past five years NFG. Really just depends on the company, IMO. My personal device needs are really low and . Having multiple cell phones and laptops is pointless and annoying.

It may be annoying but you are also leashed with your data/files/etc.
Your attitude shows me you “expect” a company laptop/phone/etc which is why you “ “ but in reality it’s a privilege. You should always have your own stuff for whatever the circumstances may be. I have a ton of personal files on my computers that I would be hard pressed to back up if they were instead on a work laptop if i ever got fired or left the company.

DFD. The forum where everybody makes the same choices and then tells anybody trying to join the club that they are the stupidest motherfucker to ever walk the earth.

I mean I'm not talking porn or anything, but like Amazon, DGD, gchat, facebook, car stuff.
We'll see. Should likely get something cheap though.

He doesn't expect a company lap top or phone.. he's saying his personal usage and demand for them is minimal, so it's easier to just have company issued stuff and only carry around one set instead of juggling two phones etc..

My company issued gear only gets used for company stuff. Every keystroke is logged. Possibility of a rogue IT worker perusing through personal stuff is always there. I'm sort of tight with a site support guy who has dished some dirt on certain people. If someone high enough has a hard on for your ass then any crumbs you left with even a hint of anything outside code of conduct can be used against you. This does not even get into any type of identity theft that can occur via breech or rogue employee.

Yeah, I expect a company laptop because it is necessary for me to make the company money (my job). My stuff is backed up to the cloud.
