Last night wasn't a very good night.
I got home pretty damn late, like 7PM, so that was a solid 12 hour day.
GF found out that a new coffee shop is opening 5 doors down from her shop. Could put them out of business due to the competition and decreased sales.
She also found out her bank was giving her the run around with loans. They told her to come in with the sale order and they'd cut a check. Neglected to tell her they need 48 hours to review for some stupid reason. So she can't go get her car today. But has to drive up that way anyway because she ordered a bunch of gluten free bagels from a place near Z's dillership.
So she was
And then doggie is cuddling me on the couch chewing on an antler. Hear a pop, she sits up, drops the antler. Red dots on the antler..... mopey face dog..... check her mouth and yep she broke a tooth.

And now I've gotta make this dumbass 20 page monthly power point presentation and send it to my boss before end of day. The one that literally nobody besides my boss reads or cares about. This is the stupidest fucking exercise I've ever had to do.

Put a funny word in the middle of the presentation to see how much they pay attention

Hopefully.
There's major risk with opening something like a coffee shop. Low barriers to entry mean competition can pop up at a moment's notice (can also disappear just as fast), margins are tight so being profitable is an epic challenge, products are pretty close to commodity, lots of massive corporate competition can crush you with market saturation should they chose.
I say this because hopefully the new place will be greedy and over-price themselves for the market and be out of business within 6 mos.

Checked my taleo profile for job submissions there and the req is now closed and I'm "no longer under consideration". Yesteray my status was "interview". Told my buddy there who was trying to get me in. He's gonna talk to his boss to get more feedback for me to apply next time something opens up.

I would, but he reads it like a hawk and grills me on stupid shit like word choices and whatnot. I'd love to just put a bunch of stupid shit in the presentation and see if anyone comments on it. I flat out stopped sending it for 4 months and it was crickets until he asked me to start sending it again.
Not value added. Pointless busy work exercise. Wasted time.

I think what will happen is the neighborhood locals will harass the new shop and be very vocal about it. We'll see.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 12:12 pmHopefully.
