If I'd already signed the firm written offer I'd consider it, but I'll wait til my background investigation is all clear and all the paperwork has been signed before I tell them I'm leaving.

Yes, Secret. I haven't need it since last April, so they'll need to reactivate it, but it's been less than two years, so should be easy for them.

Sometimes my boss does that with me. He'll call me in his office and go through an analysis that he wants to cover in a meeting. I've come to the conclusion that he does this for two reasons. One, it's a dry run/ rehearsal for him to make sure he covers the material as intended. Two I serve as a second set of eyes and usually I add something he missed or point out a possible point of contention and help with supporting material to combat any potential push back he may get from other stakeholders. Not sure that's what your boss is doing but sometimes it's possible the boss man knows what he/she is doing.
