best part? this dude didn't comment on the official review. fuck that shit I'm not pulling out a whole section unless you submit that comment on the official system baw.

Good things are happening for me.

I've been pretty unhappy with my current role and about a week and a half ago the company I was at before reached out with a cool project asking if I'm interested. I was, so I went in for rounds and now have an offer that is 40% higher than my current salary (which was just bumped up effective 1/1).

Told my boss and she said they want to keep me, she she told her boss, and now I'm meeting with him today to chat about it. Should be interesting.

I would wager about 6-18months before major changes.
If the job is unstable that could change things. With your work background you can go just about anywhere. Health care, insurance, the company that makes Trump hats, etc.

Max, I would stay right where you are man. I recall you being miserable with work in the past, why go back to that?

I left the Bang Bus gig which I really enjoyed due to thinking the end was in the future at some point. If I had to do it all over, I would've taken the raise they offered and ridden it out to the bitter end. I made 137% more in 2019 than in 2018 and you know what? I wasn't the least bit happier, in fact 2019 was the most difficult year for me in the past decade I think.

Point being, if you have enough money to be comfortable and are living well and happy with what you have, don't change. At a certain point mo money actually does equal mo problems. May as well enjoy this year in the current position.

You have to make the call on whether or not you move... hard to comment on that without knowing too much personal info about your sitch, but at your savings rate I'd just ride the gig our and try to retire up to Chico, CA or something where you could get an amazing place straight traded for your town house or less.
That is certainly correct. Different time and job at the same company and it was terribad. 100 hr work weeks and I worked through every major holiday for 2 years. It was just shit.
Maybe this is the right way ... ride it out until it is no longer fun then look elsewhere. It’s a bit better now as mentioned. I don’t hate it ... but I am also getting older so there is less time in my career to advance.

Well in terms of house I could stick around I can pay it off completely now, toying with that idea at the moment. But the thing is, it’s like a I have a 10 year old Camry. Sure it does everything I need it to do but it’s just :disgust: but I don’t want to necessarily divert the thread into residence questions.
I think you're underestimating the complete and total command station on life that this gives you. It allows you to consider not seeking out promotions that make you miserable. It allows you to :plac: vehicles whenever the fuck you want. It allows you to travel whenever you want. Unbeknowst to you (yet) it provides enormous stability to your relationship. Sitting on huge piles of cash may not be happiness per se, but it sure as hell promotes it. Have you considered basically buying a really nice retirement/vacation home/or just a condo someplace where money is not worthless but that you can still get away to on weekends? Central Coast? Your 10 year old Camry will be far more palatable when you can get away to this......https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2129 ... 7193_zpid/. (Just an example).
I would avoid the Bay Area pimping pad 1.8 million dollar albatross if at all possible. Happiness is Freedom. Freedom is Liquidity.

This is 1/2 a million dollars my friend + Repair+maintenance + Prop taxes. I have no interest in a second property, I would much rather take that 500k combine it with my current prop and live somewhere I want. I won't be able to go to paso more than 2x a month, it will be an epic anchor down there.

Other points taken, which is why this decision has been so damn hard. Do I keep chasing the rabbit further into the whole or do I :aintcare: and just no give a FK.

The other issue is... if you haven't seen tech stock lately... we're about to get another huge round in property increases, because FB/Apple/Tesla just made 30-80% this year, and that's how people get paid. Buying a 1.2/1.4M place will likely yield 10% increases this year...

This is a different world my friend. People make 200k out of college, and the companies can afford it and gladly pay it. Big tech giants minting billions here... Gold rush...

I have bet against it for a decade and gotten burned... I sold tesla at 360 ... i sold google at 1220 and that's last year alone... those two moves "cost" me a fully loaded JLUR in 3 months.

I don't have a crystal ball but .. It seems like riding the "crazy" wave out here is the way to go for now.. or you're just left behind like myself.

She is trying to switch into "tech" from a more traditional company role where we both started. Should be a lateral move, but that's difficult to achieve as she is technically "Switching industries" but she would no longer work in SF.
