Take it.

It’s easier to find a job when you have a job... you’re in demand and hold the cards.
That’s kind of the way I’m leaning.

Yeah, that makes it a lot trickier to walk away from an offer.

Outside of the huge hourly commitment, how are your feels on it?
Not exactly what I want to do but take it and use that year to strengthen and expand my network and continue looking for something else.
That’s basically what I’m doing and while the work isn’t that fun I’m learning so much and I think it has opened up more possibilities for my future, at least I hope so.

So yeah, I guess I vote take it.

I get the :flaccid: feel on this... the longer hours are what you are trying to get away from...
Longer hours. It's only temporary, but that'll run until July ish of next year. Theoretically 5 days a week but likely 6. Its not a bad offer just not quite what I was hoping for. It would be a resume builder, but not sure how advantageous even that is, considering the size and scale of projects I've already worked on. Building the whole facility but it's :jalepenis: in size compared to any refinery or even chemical plant. Pretty sure even Praxair's nitrogen plant is larger.

:notsure:
Also things to consider....starts ups are often cash strapped and DUMP staff after their major task is done; ie if you are working on the plant as soon as its up they might fire you. Tesla did this after the roadster was in production to their engineering staff.

1) agreed
2) without a retirement plan ask for equity as a replacement. Startups (often) give it away like candy and it is where the real money is.
10000% fucking this.

Thinking about taking a pipe welding course just for the certs and looking for a union job down in NC. My current job is nice and no pressure, inside and I have my own luxuries such as my own radio, fan, mini fridge, and microwave, but fuuuuu if Union money isn't really tempting.

Those guys make hardly any more than me but the work environment is garbage. I'd do it for $60-$70/hr maybe.

Its a 30 person company so they're still getting things set up but yeah I was a little wtf as well when I heard that. So asking for additional compensation and/or company equity to balance it.

Equity...if the company takes off...can set you for life.

Equity is where it's at with start-ups. It's usually pretty standard for new companies to dole out large amounts of equity for employees to assume the risk of signing on. If the company flourishes, then those employees will receive a very generous payout.
When I was in college, I worked at a pharmaceutical company. The first employees of the company all received insane amounts of equity to entice them to leave their current jobs. Every single one of them became millionaires.

I'm working 150 hour weeks making about $32k...
:wrong:

only 168 hours in a week this is not possible to do and stay conscious.

2.5 hours of sleep per night, plausible but output will be :poop:

You're not required to tell them shit.

But in my industry, leaving to go to a competitor causes :triggered: so I was forthcoming about it.

Yeah, I'm slightly concerned about this... Don't want any bridges to burn, this industry is way too small...

I hear ya. I went through this exact same issue when I left GM and my boss there went :triggered: on me "Making a huge mistake" "You'll regret this" etc etc.

Pretty sure I'm blacklisted at GM now, but it is what it is. I actually posted quite a bit about it in this thread back in March. There was some great advice...probably worth looking back for it.

My suggestion to you is that you just make it clear that you're taking the new job for professional advancement and nothing more.
