$1800 for airfare and 6 nights hotel for the 2 of us.

I hope/wonder if :mahtroy: believes me.
Nice! When are you going? have you been to Germany during summer before?

I'm also going back to Istanbul for a month, most likely end of July.

Was true in the past maybe, not anymore. 2017 budget is zero (paid for with :plac: profit). 2018+ budget is $2k/year. Property tax is $1100ish/year. :scrooge: lyfe.

This trip will come in way less than $5k :doe: Probably around $3k. I found a hotel that actually gives free metro passes to all guests, so no transportation costs other than the <$10 Euros to get to the hotel from the airport.
You only do one trip a year? Seems like you're talking about trips way more often than that. Didn't you just finish a big road trip and/or cruise? :iono:
1 Euro trip/year. The cruise was mom spending our inheritance. She is 86 and wanted to take her kids/grandkids on a (possibly last) trip. It cost us $50 I think because we bought an internet package and didn't expect mom to pay for that.

The road trip was a 3 day weekend (2 nights in hotels) that cost <$400 all in. We're taking a longer road trip later this summer but that should come in way less than $1500 all in. Then Germany in the fall.

I've not been to Germany in the summer and still won't as we're going in November.
Isn't Constantinople balls hot in the summer like Athens?

What was the previous most beautiful city you've ever seen?
I'm not sure. I've always thought of Portland as a beautiful city, but everything beautiful about Portland, Vancouver does ten times better. Both put a priority on nature, have modern high rises and craftsman style homes, but Vancouver seems to be cleaner, more diverse, less spread out.

I also wonder if my judgment is being influenced by the absolute perfect weather - 70 degrees and sunny, slight breeze. It's wonderful.
Guess I'll have to Vancouver on the list of places to visit in the next couple years.

Woot woot! I'll be running around Portland for most of the day and also visiting the waterfalls near Portland. Let me know when you get back home and I'll let you know where I'm at!
