If you channeled all of this energy to try and disprove all of these issues into bettering yourself and your own situation you might find yourself not so saddened with those "missed" opportunities because you'd have new ones to worry about instead.
You're not a bad person and nobody here hates you, just try to become an easier person to deal with.

although to be completely fair what or or anyone does isn't immoral or unethical, but they have gotten to where they are by working smart alongside working hard.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 11:26 pmHonestly he just needs to stop worrying about the rules and how people break them or bypass them and start thinking about how he can exploit loopholes and advantages for his own personal gain.razr390 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 11:22 pm If you channeled all of this energy to try and disprove all of these issues into bettering yourself and your own situation you might find yourself not so saddened with those "missed" opportunities because you'd have new ones to worry about instead.

I am only 22 but likewise. It's important to be able to be super cool with people.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 11:36 pm
Working hard and networking are so fucking important. I've gotten to exactly where I am because of the people I've met and impressions I've made in my line of work.

Photo dump of today's trip to downtown Seattle. Visited the market, the Space Needle, and the EMP. Also found a super awesome chinese food place in both the market and downtown to eat at.
Hump day!
Today, work will finally be easier after seven straight looong days.

I'm going to agree with the and the here, being put on call for the weekend the week of is unreasonable.nuggstein wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 7:32 pmAnd here's where I agree with you. It's unfortunate that I was put on call for this weekend, without much notice, I mean...I have plans. I can't just cancel. This is why I look for a work/life balance. If I knew that I was on call a month ago, honestly, it's whatever...but to let me know the WEEK OF? It's a bit ridiculous. How else can you live? How else can you plan?troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 7:27 pm
How can you be reached on the dragon, do you carry some 007 gadget that gives you cell service?
how anyone lives like that, with work always priority number one and actually living your life being whatever you can do while waiting for more work to happen.
When the phone rings you have to drop everything (or wake up) and get down to business no matter what? What if you're or in the woods with or whatever... being a human being?
However, I also agree with in that the boss is probably working with extenuating circumstances.
Talk to him/her. I'm sure you can reach a compromise.

europe.....[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 10:43 pm
That's unrealistic. 1500 hours of work is 31ish hours over 49 weeks a year. 1950 hours is realistic for a 50k a year job.
troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 10:45 pm $50k/1500 hours is realistic in Europe... too bad you have to be rich to move there.
Research shows that the hours there are more productive as a result too. (source: DFD is most active during work hours)
But, the 'mericun system is what we have, so thats what we have to with.

I truly think we could increase productivity by cutting hours. It will start happening in a couple years as the boomers die.

IDK. The 40 hour week is ingrained pretty deeply in our culture. And IMHO i think it works for a manufacturing job that takes little skill, like assembly lines.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:45 amBig Brain Bradley wrote:

But for the modern economy that is basically service based?

sure, but there is a curve, and most people are most productive between 30-40 hours a week, then it drops off. you still might get more done to a point, but the per-hour productivity drops.
Again, this is on average.

Oh, I definitely agree than the per-hour metric drops off as the week goes on.Big Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 9:10 amsure, but there is a curve, and most people are most productive between 30-40 hours a week, then it drops off. you still might get more done to a point, but the per-hour productivity drops.

Again, unique to my situation are other variables, such as lack of personnel in the office on Friday to distract me from working, and knowing I'm getting time + .5 is a motivator for a like myself.
I would be more productive if my work day was cut in half. I don't know what I do half of time I'm at work anyways.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:45 amBig Brain Bradley wrote:

In 1890, the US government began tracking workers' hours. The average workweek for full-time manufacturing employees was a whopping 100 hours.
Seventy-five years ago, on October 24, 1940, the eight-hour day and 40-hour workweek became standard practice in a range of industries. It was a long, drawn-out battle between workers and government officials.

Apple has robots that take apart their devices in their stores so they can fix them. They just pay a guy to make sure the robots don't break.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:56 amUntil they build the repair robot to fix the broken robots.Big Brain Bradley wrote:
