Yeah, that was the joke after someone drank it for the first time and would get that look on their face... we would show them the bottle that said that marketing tag line...Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 2:30 pmhttps://www.totalwine.com/american-whis ... lsrc=aw.dsCorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 1:34 pm
Or Kessler..... My friends parents used to sip on that all day when we were kids. when we got older and in high school they would let us do some shots with them..
Harsh stuff.
Says its "smooth as silk"
Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough

I understand. My dad was a distiller at Heaven Hill for 30 years and so was his dad before him. Both until the day the died.

I think once I actually have something to celebrate I will grab a decent bottle. Until then I dont deserve shit.
Funny you should say that... Grandfather did 3 years in Federal prison for moonshining before going to work for Heaven Hill

My grandparents had a wine press in their basement (this wine press is now in my basement) and during Prohibition they made wine which my grandmother would drive to their restaurant in her Model A so be served in coffee cups.
Well that sounds like it be a cool story. Did they have to deal with organized crime?
My grandfather was just evading the tax man, prohibition was over when he went to prison.

It is a cool story, which spawned these 2 additional, related stories:
One day while my grandmother was driving a load of wine to the restaurant, her car got stuck on some train tracks. A cop showed up and offered to help push her car off the tracks but she declined his help because of the illegal wine in her car. She eventually got the car off the tracks and made her delivery.
Second story; I don't know if he had much dealings with the mob, but supposedly Al Capone's sister was a regular at his restaurant. It was a fancy, 3 star restaurant with a good reputation located in Greek Town, which was very near the Little Italy neighborhood, so this story is very plausable.

Interesting. I agree on the smoothness. Smoother than Chivas , no?[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 10:37 pmI have! It's not my normal type of scotch but it's super smooth and a great blend. Nice sweetness and you could drink it all night. Heavy heavy malt and a pretty light toast on that malt. Really similar to Chivas which isn't a huge surprise since it comes from the same distillery.
