Yeah I need to be better about working on crate time with her on the weekends. My usual strategy is to just get her out to the park first thing in the morning and then she's worn out the rest of the day while I run errands.Johnny_P wrote:The frenchie is a much smaller dog and it'll occupy that for a longer time... But whatever. I think it's a solid way to get her to like the crate.

but she's pretty good now. just whines / squeaks / howls a tiny bit if we aren't awake early enough
Pavlov the shit out of her.
My pup is slowly getting better at the dog park. But if she bites and hangs on a cheek or something we're outta there. Which sucks because then she has all this pent up energy the rest of the day.SAWCE wrote:Yeah I need to be better about working on crate time with her on the weekends. Mine plays rough sometimes, but I'm always making sure it's not escalating and checking with other owners to make sure they're fine with it. The dogs are usually pretty good about letting each other know when they've had too much. Ava bit one dogs lips and and hung on too long and the dog ripped away then turned and bit the fuck out of her throat. She played super submissively with him after that.Johnny_P wrote:My pup is slowly getting better at the dog park. But if she bites and hangs on a cheek or something we're outta there. Your cheese content wasn't high enough.

Yeah, dogs usually sort things out themselves.SAWCE wrote:Mine plays rough sometimes, but I'm always making sure it's not escalating and checking with other owners to make sure they're fine with it. Yeah most of the owners at my park are pretty chill as long as you're actively watching your dog and are ready to intervene if needed.Johnny_P wrote:hahSAWCE wrote: Mine plays rough sometimes, but I'm always making sure it's not escalating and checking with other owners to make sure they're fine with it. yeah we try and pull her off if she holds for more than like, oh, 5 seconds or so.
a nip, quick hold, and release is fine with me
seems to be the cutoff for other dog owners as well. but many say they don't care because the dog isn't whimpering or growling or anything.
