8” and 12” tall siding is what places stock, of course we had 9.25” special order siding. So I bought the 12” cut it down to size and got it installed.

Now I need to caulk it, wash and sand the surfaces to perp it, give it a little bit of time to dry out and then slap some paint on it.

Also we have a company contracted for the patio as of today. Unfortunately we’re looking at 5 weeks or so until start of work.

Garage clean up today. I’m going to hang another of those big wooden selves they just didn’t have any more of the big beefy L brackets in stock at Home Depot.

Also don’t mind all the crap on top on the toolbox, that’s all parts waiting to go on the 4Runner.

The more commonly used stuff.

How did you cut the siding down to size?

Have you considered making your own French cleat system in the garage out of 2x4s? I know there are plans online for a DIY version. In my old garage I had the metal ones everywhere. Love the versatility

Reason I got so :triggered: is after the flood, I painted my unpainted garage walls (40 year old drywall at this point) and the brown kept coming through the primer.
Took about 5 coats of Kilz, applied over a week to stop the bleed.

The concrete siding is very drywall like, score and snap. I laid it doe on top of the old 2x6 piece of wood, and put 2x4 on the face of it as a straight edge to score against. Then with the are I wanted removed scored and sticking out between the 2 boards I just stepped on the edge to snap it off. It’s a pretty clean break but that part is on the top edge of the siding so it’s inserted up under the piece above it. The only edge showing is the clean factory cut one.

I did not consider a French cleat system but that’s a good idea. Eventually I want to do the big giant metal shelving that hangs from the ceiling and ties into the wall so they are way up high and have like 3 feet of height and 3-4 feet depth. It’s like 14 feet at the back of the garage so plenty useable wasted space up high. In fact it’s a shame they didn’t made the garage door one panel taller for an extra couple feet of doorway height.

Good news, patio guy came back last night with color and texture samples. He said 2-3 weeks until they will come do the concrete, the 5-6 weeks the wait for the dirt, sod, and sprinkler work.

I’ve been digging a 7” deep trench to bury the bottom of rodent fences down far enough that they won’t dig under it.

7" is enough?

Here, code is 13" under any new foundation, etc.

7” is enough, it’s just to help keep rabbits out of the backyard. Supposedly 4-5” is he typical depth a rabbit will dig. The neighbors on both sides did not bury their fencing at all so if all else fails it should at least deter them from our yard.

The rocks have been relocated, the old steps and the concrete footings from the deck have been removed, the holes for pylons have been drilled, and the wood is in place. The were planning to put down the road fill and do the rebar and then pour this weekend but it’s supposed to be a very rainy week so that got pushed back a week. Next Saturday they will do rebar and pour concrete.

Road fill is in and they were working on the rebar. The cement truck showed up with the wrong color of concrete so pouring is now delayed to Monday.

Concrete is in, cleaned, and sealed. Unfortunately the sealer darkened the color significantly but I still like it.

Looks great.

And the color may fade over time.

Any fencing or not gonna bother since it's basically ground level?
