:notbad: I will be looking at this project with a considerable amount of interest. As we contemplate retirementish/vacation properties, one of the things I have decided I can't live without is a gym in reasonable proximity. To the extent this can be accomplished in house, it broadens the geographic possibilities.

Is this third bedroom carpeted? What are you going to do about that? Are you ruling out the deadlift?
It already has a rubber floor apparently.
Built in casting couch room :impressive:

I'm sure there are cheaper versions, but something simple like this should work
https://www.ironcompany.com/noise-vibra ... adlift-mat

Don't know if it'd be fine laid out on the carpet or not.. don't see why it wouldn't be.
Here's the :scrooge: version. Tractor Supply horse stall mats.

no carpet in our house. Definitely not ruling out deads. Just not going to be going super heavy on them every again.

I don't care how heavy anyone lifts. I just love seeing people lifting.

my credit card is on FIRE.

I bought the academy weight set.

I texted a buddy from past racecar exploits that is now into lifting heavy things and has a home gym. Talked to him about bars, he confirmed my feels. Informed of the closeouts/scratch & dent section of Rogue Fitness...
I got me a blemish Ohio Bar - Black Zinc Shaft / Bright Zinc Sleeves for 220 shipped :dill: indeed.

got some amazon stuff including a weight holder on warehouse :dill: for 20% off

Doing the gym in the room will require lots of re-arranging. Need a new TV, wall mount....lots of money.
But in my :dill: ing ways got the tv size we need on closeout/display at costco today for 200 bucks!
I will sell the current stand and tv (and another tv doing nothing) hopefully to recover some cost.

current pic for reference sketch:
this is from center of room

Proposed:
Image

Printer will move out of this room.
tv is fully swivelable.
rack folds to leave floor open for yoga and shit with the wife

thoughts?

cost is at about 1200 right now not including the new tv and its support stuff.... hoping thats a zero sum game between new stuff and selling old stuff. But i need a few more plates and some stuff from lowes soe i'm looking at another 200 I think. Still not bad since I have it on good authority that some people spend double that.

I also officially canceled my YMCA membership today.

I have the exact same printer as well. Best $100 sale item I've ever bought.

Did lots of work this weekend, although it sure does not look like it.

crappy pano shot of the room "before" but i had sold some tvs and already moved a few things.
Image

Went and bought the stuff to build out the stringers. I had to move the bottom one higher by 2 inches (one hole) because of my trim. I don't think this will impact the function or strength of the rack.

USPS delivered my tv mount sunday as promised. Pretty impressive: ordered pretty late friday night in my hands SUNDAY early afternoon. This is the new racecar bro rig
Image

Drivers view. You can see in this pic why I needed a smaller tv to pull off this trick.
Image

Stringers mounted and painted. also pictured is partially assembled rack.
Image

I also started assembling the bench last night. Not bad for 150 bucks. Things is heavy d00ty. But its missing some hardware, ( :disappoint: ) and i was exhausted so that was a good stopping point.

Had a bunch of errands to run and the baby had to sleep in the next room at 730, so not much progress....

but it LOOKS like i did alot his time. I still need to stab like half the screws but it holding itself it for now

Image

edit: as predicted the bar is too much for wife so i will try to resell. I will either go poverty sand filled PVC pipe for her "bar" workouts Or buy the 15-20 lb stick from academy for her.

I think I missed something.. did you buy two bars? You're not gonna resell your olympic bar that you bought from Rouge are you?

I didn't go into great detail here, but what had happened...

I bought the CAP set from academy, 265ib of cast iron BNIB got 200 bucks, with tax. That's good :dill: for plates. But it came with a cheap ass CAP Oly bar as well. So I'm just going to sell it. So yes, 2 bars were purchased.
https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/cap-ba ... id=3295065

I bought my 10 & 15 lb bumper plates from Titan today as well, used dem points I earned buying the other stuff so got a pretty good discount.
