The airboating part is easy. Giving up precious floorspace and blowing at least $500 all-in is the hard part, plus leaving a man-sized window next to the front door and only 18" off the ground, 30 feet from the street and in full view open all summer is a serious security concern.

Before he misses the trollface and gets heated, I would like to say that this was 100% a joke because when he posted pics of the house he sold, it looked very nice inside.

Oh IDGAF about my stuff, I'm more concerned about physical harm. The wife's sister had a break-in last year and lost most of her jewelry so the family is all about security now.CorvetteWaxer wrote:With all your talk of being so much less than lucky, do you even have anything to steal?troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 11:20 am The airboating part is easy. I think it's more likely that the black bear comes through the window than

You might have to remove the habit of lathering yourself up with honey before going to bed.
Seriously though, I used to do the window AC thing in my old apartment 30 years ago ZFG about having an open window on the first floor. Now that I'm actually using my brain for other things besides looking for women, I'd never do that today.

I put a dryer exhaust through a basement window by ripping the window apart, building a plexiglass double pane window, reattaching the vinyl, and hanging it. Had a nice hole in it for the dryer. Was like $60 all in for the materials.troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 9:18 amOk Professional Engineer, how does one put a $99 window AC in these?Big Brain Bradley wrote:

shopping in full effect yesterday, we looked at a really nice house in Georgetown, big Corner pie-shaped backyard with a saltwater pool, backing onto Green Space which is essentially a soccer field and the kids school. The school in that area for the kids is an average 7 out of 10.
Then we looked at Oakville, and for the same money you can still get green space, but the houses are much smaller and older. They're better kept, as the clientele is wealthier. Lot sizes are smaller so parking is tighter, schools are a solid eight or nine out of 10.
No conclusions have been drawn just yet, but that Backyard Oasis overlooking green spaces pretty sweet.

This is the Georgetown front runner, the problem is there are two on the street that are 400k lower so its overpriced by at least 100k. I offered 70k less and no dice.dubshow wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 9:08 amzillow links to areas? This is a comparable with a worse lot:
https://www.point2homes.com/CA/Home-For ... 75698.html
This is a typical house for sale in Oakville, you pay more but get a more upscale client base and usually nice ass renos. Old homes, small lots.

That's all Canadian rupees, so take off 25%.
My current place is worth 1.2, so the loan wouldn't be crazy and total selling/closing costs are like 80k all in.
It's not cheap to live anywhere close to Toronto

My take away is the Oakville house itself isnt really much "newer". +-10 years aint much and it appears to have a better design and more premium built features.
You are paying for that lot and pool in the georgetown house. The win win would be a larger lot in Oakville city life. You seem to really like the oakville city life vs the more "suburban" setting of Georgetown.
All 3 are pretty nice places to live but when you are looking at those pricepoints you really do want exactly what you want and where.
Have you listed out your top priorities in order? Than can help with the compromises.

Basically looking for a more upscale area then I have now, not GT and OV offer it. Georgetown has more green space which we love. Oakville has higher demand and appreciating homes. A week and anything half decent under 2M sells. Oakville costs more to travel into and out of. Traffic is a bitch, and toll highways are sometimes the only option.
Priorities(winner):
-lifestyle(GT)
-schools(OV)
-commute(GT)
-house appearance and size(GT)
-interior appointments(OV)
-appreciation/resale(OV)
-community(OV)

Greater Toronto Area, one of the top two markets in Canada. It is what it is. My place is paid off so mortgage is the amount listed minus 1.1M clean, doesn't seem so unreasonable to me. Five year locked in is just under 3% right now. Cant lock in longer unfortunately, renew every 5 yrs.Big Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 1:28 pmyou are fucking insane.Tarspin wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 12:57 pm
