Then you have to pay property taxes on that land, and I'm sure the city/county/state is going to try to assess the tiny house as part of that. So being truly "debt free" isn't really possible. Significantly reduced cost, sure.
yea so that's the thing.... if you had a paid for house and cheap land in the sticks.... would you even need a job like you have now? Would a couple shifts at the local ace hardware cover you monthles with no mortgage?
Run a small internet business, perhaps drop shipping some product, to cover monthly expenses and never have to leave your tiny compound.

I do have to say though...the thought of living in half the square feet of my garage makes you go "woah, hold up"

But its totally doable with a nice open plan and good outdoors space.

Sounds great.
eh, plenty of people do it :iono: I've seen families, lots of pets, everything really. Even in our 2k ft house there is so much damn wasted space we simply don't use its almost sickening.

Hell there are tons of people that do the MTB bike thing and live out of fucking sprinter vans.

I don't drop shit, mama didn't raise no bitch. I'm talking when I'm standing with 405 in hand.. all that weight, plus my body weight concentrated on a very small footprint...
Good :sawce: just making sure we're on the same page with that.
DIY on the tiny :haus: build so you know the structure is sufficient where the platform is seems like the best option.
I'd probably mount those racks outside or something.

The only way I see it being possible is with a lot of use of vertical space and setting pretty much everything up to be "temporary" - i.e. whenever you want to do an activity or use a thing, you have to pull everything out and set it up before doing it and then tear it all back down and put it away afterward. You can't just have a project out on the workbench overnight, because the workbench is also your desk which is also your dinner table.

My wife and I are going to do the sprinter thing in Europe when we retire.

We'd be tiny house people if reproducing wasn't a thing.

Or at least non conventional living.

This is cool, but it'd really bug me that my furniture isn't curved to follow the walls....
