They gave you more :woodplow: than you ordered or what?
When we placed the lumber order, they accidentally put 6x12s on the order and then corrected it to 6x16s that were requested after we caught their error. I was credited accordingly, but it seems they never removed the 6x12s from the packing slip.

They didn’t even exist on the shipping sheet I signed at drop off, but someone signed off on loading it at Lowe’s.

Free wood. Shipping guy said just keep it.

I vote he uses the 6x12s to cover the unsightly river rock he installed.

Deck framing 95% complete. Need to finish a couple details up and then schedule framing inspection.

That looks strong like bull. I've built a few decks in my lifetime and my philosophy is that if you're going to all that effort, you might as well build something you can land a 747 on. Saving money on materials is for spec homes.

It's way fucking overbuilt - it'll outlast the house and I could park the Jeep on this thing if I wanted to. NJ building code is pretty ridiculous when it comes to deck spec. Thru bolts and not carriage bolts, 6x6 railroad tie footings (they required 3 for the 12' span that supports the floor joists), notched seats on the footings for the girder that supports the floor joists.

Will be nice when it's done, though. Strong like bull indeed.

Framing complete. Really wish I could’ve been left to do the detail work on this, not satisfied with my FIL’s attention to detail; deck is slightly wider at one end by 2”, uneven blocking, areas where he screwed something together and then backed the screw out and put another in a new hole.

But whatever. Free labor is free labor, right? :thisisfine:

I'll run the numbers on your foundations.

I'll need to see your geotechnical report detailing soil conditions.
