So you guys never answered my question... should I take it into the dealer for a once over for the oil change that won't be due yet (and I am not sure what oil/filter was used during the last one)
or
say fuck it and raw dog it.
Soviet EV and taco chronicles + future ponderings about Fendie
I'd raw dog...
A.) WHy the "once over"? You are likely more capable than the techs and gave it more of a "once over" while replacing the exhausts than they will.
B.) You will in 18 months so

So one thing I noted... on the oil filter cover there was a tiny bit of oil... now I am not sure if that's left over from the grease monkey, or something else, everything else is bone dry... Ima snap some pics tomorrow for the class.
I did give the car a pretty good once over and that was the only "issue" i noted, and the other piece is that the door seal rubber is two different types of rubber it seems more corse on the top and more supple on the bottom... I wonder wtf is up with that... Anyone else with a F5X mini that can confirm if this is normal... ?
Yeah dude wouldn't notice or tell you about that sort of thing... I never took my BMW to any sort of shop but my parking spot and it's going strong 14K miles and one year later. Five+ years in the C5 and it's only been to shops for tires, one AC condenser replacement, and for the coding to eliminate the magna ride warnings. Driveway mechanics are the way to go if you can do it.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 6:29 pmSo one thing I noted... on the oil filter cover there was a tiny bit of oil... now I am not sure if that's left over from the grease monkey, or something else, everything else is bone dry... That's how I roll breh, but it's also the end of my b2b warranty, and if something is off this is my last chance to get it "fixed" the "oil leak" is the main concern to be honest, I haven't seen any extra come out after driving the car for 2000 miles post getting it, and I noticed it during my initial inspection... however the car had been driven 15 miles since the last oil change so I am assuming they did a shit sloppy job as expected, and perhaps didn't wipe the filter housing after.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 6:35 pmYeah dude wouldn't notice or tell you about that sort of thing... I figured the rich man from the Desert would agree. I'll have to figure this out shortly... Also have to figure out how much they actually cost.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:13 pmI would do it for sure.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 6:40 pm

R gen's are $79.95 advertised...
F gen has no on the websites.
If had fair pricing to normal shops I should be out under $200/250 for alignment+ oil change. Let's see how bad it'll actually be.

I figure the whole last chance warranty thing is always worth a roll of the dice. Yes, you may pay more for an alignment than normal, but maybe they catch a $$$$$$ item and ring up Mini for it? Everybody wins.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:46 pmI figured the rich man from the Desert would agree. I'll have to figure this out shortly... Also have to figure out how much they actually cost.

Even cast Enkeis are pretty stout. I bent one on my WRX, but it was a hit hard enough to blow out a sidewall.
As the only published author in a well-known motorcycle publication in the room...
I am a neophyte with these things as I only buy used cars out of warranty, but is this really a thing? I guess gets a nice payday from the manufacturer if they perform a large repair, so that's their incentive? I just can't imagine some dillertech giving a shit enough to actually "find" something a car enthusiast owner wouldn't have noticed.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 1:15 amI figure the whole last chance warranty thing is always worth a roll of the dice. Supremely unlikely but I did notice something ... that’s the real concern but I could beD Griff wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 10:42 amI am a neophyte with these things as I only buy used cars out of warranty, but is this really a thing?
