I don’t understand this nation’s infatuation with lawn care.
It looks nice ?
Our backyard is completely scalped. I was going to plant grass until Michigan turned into a desert, so I just let the weeds go and I mow them on a regular basis. We actually had a friend compliment us on the back yard "lawn" right after I mowed it for how green it looked. I told them it was all weeds and they were :mindblown:

I don't mind the heat if I'm sitting around doing nothing outside. It's actually really pleasant in the shade.

But I start sweating instantly as soon as I start any activity, and I'm not even that :fatty: anymore. Just sick of that.
It will be 116 here on Sunday. Bring Michelle over for dinner.

In Texas people hang out and party outside at 10pm it is quite Bizzare. But you gotta do what you gotta do, it’s nice and 80 at that time

Well, to be fair, everyone trying to have New England grass lawns in a desert is dumb. This is one factor in half of CA burning every year.
I’m not in the desert the desert is 400 miles away
I am familiar with the area, it is still a desert of sorts, no? It doesn't really rain there and grass isn't naturally present. The entire state of CA has ongoing drought issues, it seems like a huge dent could be made in this by people just accepting the natural landscape and embracing it.

Sort of, but there is plenty of fresh water all around from the Sacramento river delta, which literally just flows into the ocean. This area is not a desert... So cal is...

Mine is also all weeds but it’s green so :whocares:

We water those shrubs because they are newly planted but I’ve never watered this lawn.

They look like lawn when mowed, it's just when they get shaggy that they look like weeds. Mow 1x per week, and it's perfect.

Crazy thing is lawn is dead in the front, plants are dying all over, but weeds are all :fuckyeah: at no water and scorching sun. I'm really liking the idea of letting them become the back "lawn" because they require zero maintenance and look green AF.

Sort of curious what you pay for water...I use 72 gals per day, or about 2200 gals per month @ $52 a month

Our electric bill is cheap...$100 almost every month. Gas is nearly free except in the winter, it'll be $200 tops.

But water is :mindblown: expensive now that we're using a ton. Usually it's $60/mo, now we're up to over triple that. Billed every two months, you end up with a bill that's 5x was the power is.

Meanwhile, lake levels are at record highs, and people are losing houses due to flooding. A dude I work with has a lake house 45 minutes from me that he can't even go in because it's under a foot of water. I told him about my water bill and he told me to buy a tanker and start sucking water out of his house. :lolol:

Our water is "$50" but it's included in the rent so I have no idea what it really costs here. I just checked the other utilities 2 days ago though and over the past year we averaged $160/mo for electric+gas combined in our little 1100 sq ft townhouse. Winter it's mostly gas, summer it's mostly electric, on average it's like $85/75 but I forgot which one is which now.

How much water do you use? I don't know what we are at in NY but in KY IIRC it was basically 2000 gallons a month.
