I’m intrigued...[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:45 pm The steering wheel is the one thing I miss from the Alfa so I got one that was more like it. It's built on an OEM core with additional thumb thingies and some thickness and carbon fibers etc etc.
I think I've seen it before. Some tuning company does them right?[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:45 pm The steering wheel is the one thing I miss from the Alfa so I got one that was more like it. Gonna sell the old wheel? I may be interested....
Could always swap stock wheels plus cash.

Mine will have a blue centering line and blue stitching just as this pic. Alacantra and carbon fiber.
Yeah the wheel is seriously good at the price point of the car, but the Alfa spoiled me.
Retaining the center VW hub makes it look OEM.

Won't matter as soon as the 5 some starts and some broad scratches it with her 9" heels[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 1:45 am Remember to take your rings off when manhandling the wheel or you’re gonna scratch that sweet sweet CF.

Whoa so simple! That's cool man, I'm stoked about the end result. I'm also amazed that the airbag comes out so easily.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:41 amWill do! It's super easy based on YouTube videos.
1) turn wheel all the way to right and use a flathead to release the airbag via a little hole that appears
2) turn to the left and repeat
3) pull out airbag and remove harnesses
4) unbolt old wheel (one bolt) and pull off
5) put new wheel on and bolt on
6) harness reinstall
7) push airbag in till it snaps in place
Done!

Do you not need a puller to get the wheel off? That's usually the only tricky part.

So I was enjoying some Dewar's White Label and going outside for fresh air, and I started thinking about steering wheels.
I like the leather feeling a lot especially more so after fifty thousand miles. It kind of broke in and turned a bit shiny and grippy. The CF wheel is , that's a great place to have one's hands.
On another note, the Golf R has been very robust and reliable in most other ways. The little that came up so far is . Fixed a kessy problem at the beginning, anything else really has been self inflicted.
Although it isn't the most :racekar: of its class, it is a hell of a place to park one's ass day in and day out, 50k and three appliance pick ups later and I'd have a hard time trading it in, unless it were two vehicles like a jeep and Prius or something.

Does the UBQ really make that much of a difference?

Interesting. Let me know. I had the car detailed last week and they cleaned all of my door jambs and seals, and now they creak and rattle like crazy with the slightest bit of body flex. I've put a few layers of gummi pfledge on all of the door seals but it's slowly coming back. It's bad enough that I want to set the car on fire.[user not found] wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 1:28 pmDon't know yet but on my GTI the UB made an AMAZING difference.

So does this mean you can’t fold the seats anymore?[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 6:29 am Rear brace installed. I've only done a quick drive with it but it definitely has an impact, probably not as significant as the Unibrace XB did but the install was light years easier.

The top bar seems to be mounted on the seat backs? Unless I have terrible eyes

Ah. In4 deets.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 8:26 am OH. The screws attach to mounting hardware, not the seats. The mounting hardware latches to the seat latches
How much did it cost ya?

So, are the leather bondage straps on back-order or did you not install them yet?[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 6:29 am Rear brace installed. What do you think the roadside kit is for? They're hiding in plain sight.Apex wrote:So, are the leather bondage straps on back-order or did you not install them yet?[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 6:29 am Rear brace installed.
