Oh I have filters. I'm pretty to myself and keep my filth inside of my own little circle pit. I just have a dark sense of humor.Tarspin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:54 pmthe shower nutting at the end is classic!Acid666 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 12:08 pm

Of the 2 motors I got on the side, the 2003 is trash. Cracked it open last night and immediately smelled burnt. One of the crank rods was shot. So this crank is worthless.
I have a 1994 1.8 left that I need to get on the stand. I will try to open that up this week and see what shape the crank is in

94 crank appears to be clean and within spec. Ordered new rod and center main bearings and 2 more oil pan gaskets. Thrush washers are still good from the first rebuild. I want to order a new oil pump too but my god they're kinda pricey. If the parts come in by the weekend I'm going to tear it apart and clean the living fuck out of it, and do the assembly quick so I can eliminate any change humor dirt in the build. I'll probably record it all again in high speed and slap it in youtube.

Fun fact, the Haynes manual is wrong for the year/vin identification. I was PISSSSSSED when I checked the motors only to find an online decoder that verified it was the correct 94 1.8L.
THis is correct, 1.6 was '90-'93 model years only (at least in the US).

Airboat Innovate. Always airboat innovative, consistent airboat results never able to be duplicated
Speaking of Meowta. Main and Rod bearings, and oilpan seals come in today. Technically could start the assembly, but I really need to break down the bottom end and re-clean parts. Cleaned the shiny bits out of the oil pan yesterday. Need to make sure the pistons don't have carbon on the sides, and look at possibly touching up the bores if needed. I might set myself up for a straight shot with the assembly and just clean and organize all my shit today or tomorrow.

Round 2
Also just ordered some Lucas break in oil, and some sandpaper ranging from 600-15,000 grit.
Think I found a good way to polish my own crank here at the house and not have to deal with a shop. I originally wasn't going to because it looked pretty clean, but I'm making sure shit's super shiny this time.
