It’s a a nice little spot, especially considering it’s in the Midwest. I don’t like that they paved parts of the trails but for sustainability in a wet area that has that much popularity it makes sense. At least the pavement isn’t like straight up sidewalk, it’s just stable consistent footing. The weather was awful while we were there, very hot and very humid but I’d go back again for sure.

Nice pics above ^

Looks like I need to add the hike to Blue Lake to my list. We usually go up to Wild Basin for a quick weekend hike.

Bandit wrote: Thu Jul 12, 2018 3:10 pm Awesome thread, Dbest. That is a badass truck with well thought out upgrades. I did King springs and some other suspension bits on my Legacy after moving to Colorado to deal with the mountain/dirt roads; the extra piece of mind is totally worth it.

Maybe we can get a two person DFD Boulder meet up one of these days.

I’m down, I’m in Florida right now for work but I’d be up for it when I’m home. Since you know the area I actually live in Erie, where are you at?
Sounds good! Nice. I like it out your way, you can have a pretty nice view of the mountains. I'm in Boulder, over by Foothills Hospital.

Right! It's a pretty unique topography for this area. Didn't realize they paved parts of the trails; I haven't been there in a while.

Each pod is 4 LEDs and fits into the factory foglight housing location, and the output is absolutely insane. They are so crazy they aren't usable on the street. They are significantly brighter than high beams.

Not my video, but a good video showing the ridiculous output of the Pros
Doing the fogs over again, would you get the Pro's again or go with the Sports?

A pair of Sports is the same cost as one Pro according to the BD website.

Are you looking at Squadron vs Squardon R? Those are the same price, R is just a round housing vs a square. The pros are $100 per light more than the sport, $119.95 each vs $219.95 on their site right now so I’m not sure what your looking at.

But I do think the pros are way to bright if you ever want to use them on road. I may end up doing to some ditch light brackets with the pros mounted there and some sport lights in the fogs so they can still be used.

For the facelift 5th gen you can get some DOT approved Rigid Dually lights for the fogs that have a nice clean cutoff for onroad use.

I was looking at the Squadron-R's, and as you stated the pros are $100 more per light.

Sounds like the sport lights mounted in the fog location would be a good upgrade over the stock fogs for on-road use. :like:

A nice budget friendly option is the Morimotto direct replacement LED housings. I liked the output for on road, they aren’t overly expensive, and I could use them a lot without got flashed. They did a great a job of lighting up the sides of the roads. They lit up a lot more area without the actual light seeming much brighter. Very OEM looking.

The XBs were like $120 or something for the pair?

Next up was replacing the taillight assemblies. On the drivers side the plastic on the housing was starting to deform a little where the socket snaps into place so it would't hold a consistent connection. I’d lose the brake light operation on that side sporadically so I just swapped them out the to the newer style that uses a wiring harness to each bulb instead of the old design. OEM housings, harnesses, and body to light housing gaskets made for a quick easy direct swap.

14' long piece of concrete siding fits just fine, dash, front headrest, rear headrest, hatch window glass kept it stable and supported. Worked out pretty well.

The roll down rear window is great for when you need to coral the kiddo. This was leaving the zoo, changed his diaper, left him back, ran over to the garbage can real quick.

Image

it as just dumb luck I parked next to another 5th gen, old style taillights vs new style taillights.

I finally sorted through pictures from our Memorial Day road trip and weekend. Thursday afternoon we headed out, we stopped in Leadville for dinner on our way to Salida for the night. Friday we went to Great Sand Dunes National Park, hiked up the dunes, drove part of the Medano Pass, and had a picnic in the truck for lunch. When we got back to Salida we had dinner overlooking the river and the kayak park, then to a party in the park and some ice cream for desert. Saturday we drove from Salida to the Royal Gorge Bridge and then headed back home from there. Sunday was breakfast and to the Boulder Creek fest, while we were there my wife signed up to run the Bolder Boulder. So in the morning on Memorial Day we went to the Bolder Boulder (one of the largest 10K races anywhere, international competition, 45,000 people racing, party atmosphere, its pretty awesome). Then Tuesday we got in a nice hike.

Packing up the truck getting ready to head out.
