Well, some guy in a truck decided to clip me the other day. So the 1er has a bit of a bruise until I get around to fixing it.

No insurance?
I opted to not deal with them or the police for better or worse. Shouldn't be too expensive though.

Well, my 1 series started misfiring really badly last week so I wound up taking my e28 up to Roebling, surprisingly it survived quite fine, and even on dry rot shit tires I was only 7 seconds off of my best time in the 1er. (1:28.xx/1:35.xx) will post track day photos later

:butwhy:

$1300 worth of damage with a $1000 deductible isn't worth it.

I didn't feel like either one of us was more or less at fault than the other. If the cops found me to be at fault I'd likely be dropped from my insurance policy, or my rates would increase more than the cost of fixing the car. The best thing I can do with insurance is pay the rates and have as clean of a record as possible.

Smart decision. Tires aren't important or anything.

I monitored them between run sessions and didn't run all of the sessions I could have. I needed to get back home after the track event, and I don't have money to buy new tires yet.

Looked fine when teched, I used my best judgement when I noticed them wearing funny, and most of that was due to not enough camber up front and pushing through the turns, and heat cycling 560 treadwear tires. Them being old just added to the decay and type of decay.

Look, Gravey. I know you judged them to "be okay", but you're endangering yourself, your passenger, other drivers, and risking damage to other vehicles on the track. It is 100% your responsibility to maintain your vehicle and make sure that it is track safe and ready, so if you managed to miss the fact that your tires are suffering from some dry rot, you probably missed numerous other things as well. And no, tech inspections will not catch everything as they should.

For your sake and other's sake, please be more careful. You admittedly drive like an ass on the street in your 135, had an incident in the past that resulted in the loss of your GTI, and now this truck thing. Dial it back a few notches and work on being a predictable driver, both on and off the track. If you're running track sessions with dry rotted tires, you are not a predictable driver, no matter what you may believe. If you don't have the money for new tires, just take a weekend or two off of the track so you can afford new ones.
