Haha, I certainly felt like The Pieta after working in the heat all day.
Let's have a Lowe's party and buy some 20K BTU window units and have an install party!

That orange looks like similar to the one used on the new JLU I want, and it looks amazeballs on the E30! Can't wait to see it back together, it goes without saying that here is another great example that the talent level on this forum is :mindblown:

Now that I'm not interested in driving another Miata 11 hours to Tennessee, I want an NA.

I'm pretty done with buying another fun car, though - the :meata: is likely my last one for a long, long time unless I find the ideal NA.
My big question is: What would I actually do with a cool old car besides work on it and wax it? Autox for raw time locally without regard for being competitive nationally or on PAX is about all I can come up with... Maybe drive it to lunch randomly on nice days? :wasteful:

Even knowing that, I still want one. :fullretard:

This is my issue too...I don't like shows. Our roads are garbage. The only "fun" would be working on and waxing an old car. Which at this point is :butwhy:

But yea, I still want something too. :derp:

I'd just like to own something cool and old and analog.
:word:

I want to own and drive a moderately modernized one, kind of like the :melon: project here. It is so much cooler than anything new.

Older cars are a labor of love, don't kid yourself.
That being said, I'm tremendously enjoying taking something old and haggard and breathing new life into it.

It's going to be a driver's car, I'll autocross it, it will make it's way to TN to bomb those roads, it's going to look decent, and drive even better.

Even after coming to terms and selling/watching :melon: work magic on the ole e30, i miss it and want that again. Alas, I have 2 other projects.

Moving on to the interior and engine bay.
Rustoleum'd the interior, and the trunk.

Installed what I could of the door hardware.

I sent the gauge cluster off to Bavarian Restoration, to get, restored
And the window motors off to get rebuilt.

Tires mounted and balanced, and they fit snugly in my bed extender.

Moving on to the engine bay.

The idea was to remove as much as possible, and paint it, going with a 2K spray can, "Hot rod satin black" it will be a nice contrast to the orange, and will hide dirt and imprefections in the metal pretty well as time goes on.

So, I noticed there was a bad oil leak on the passenger side of the engine, doing a little reading, and it's a tell-tale sign of a bad head gasket.
Since I had everything apart, I pulled the head, and sent it off to a machine shop.
Lo and behold, the cam is scarred from poor oil passages, and will need to be replaced.
Upgrading to a Schrick 272 cam, stiffer springs, and heavy duty rockers, with a sufficient chip, I'll be able to rev the engine over 7k now.

Cylinders looked good too, more good news.

The dolphins attacked my crangshaft, so I ordered a Schrick 272.

Test fit the wheels.

Painting the engine bay, would be done but I bought two cans, and one leaked at the nozzle. Ruint.

Look all them scratches. Thats weight reduction. And since it's on an axis is less unsprung weight.
And less rolling resistance since there's less surface area!

The black on orange looks wicked.
