So, a while back I eluded to a new automotive purchase, well here it is.

It's not new to DFD, it's Dubshow's E30.

1987 325e
M20 2.5L swapped

Dub has done a lot of work while having this car, and I'm all too happy to pick up the torch and continue on with the work.

With 205/50 Rival-S tires.
They're in decent shape, still with plenty of grip.

floor boards are solid. strut towers good.

only a small dime sized spot at windshield. Small section at trunk left low point which is real common.

The tails had rust which I found when changing gaskets. That turned into metal repair and welding fabbing. So the rear was fixed before it got out of hand.

I also wouldn't have sold the car to just anyone. Alan had his share of cursing, sweat and bloody knuckles involved in repairs.

Hell, the shock install was done at his house when I first got it.

I'll outbid you on it just in principle. I never understood the whole "dibs if you sell it again" deal.

It's been over a year of back and forth negotiations.
There was real sadness there, no worries, it's in good hands.

I told him we can arrange visitation rights.

I’m thankful that I have zero emotional attachments to motor vehicles or else I’d have 7 motorcycles and at least 5 cars/truks.

Some become companions and are harder to let go than others.

Alright alright I hear ya. The GTI wasn't easy to part with either since I'd dumped stupid money and energy into it, so I do get it. It's not a bad thing to have to go through since it IS "just a car". I would love to see the Rabbit alive again and tackle the Tail. Unfinished business. I'd help if I were closer.

other fun info: I pulled the car :fax:

twas clean with 5 owners before myself in 2015. Lived most of its live in AZ. It went dark and someone showed up in Prairieville, LA circa 2005-7.

Chassis logged ~202k miles at that point from records. Cluster was ~190k from the swap. Ironically it was only about 1/2 mile from my moms house. I think that is the person that did the m20b25 swap. It then wound up in Lake Charles for a few years and the kid I bought it from picked it up about 2011-12 in not running shape.

PO kid didnt really know what he was doing but with a hackjob of things made the car run. I think he bought the car for $800 in not running shape. It came with tons of junk yard pulled parts. I carried the torch a good way from that point. Melon assisted. And now its in capable hands.

I look forward to seeing its progress/changes.
