Finished painting the engine bay.

Image

Got the cam, rockers, and springs in, and installed. Picked up the head from the machine shop on Monday,

Image

Image

Dropped the transmission, cleaned it up, replaced a few leaking seals.

Image

Image

Replaced the rear main, going to do the crank seal this weekend, as you can see, it's got a case of seepage.

Image

Image

O2 sensor wiring worked it's way a little too close to the exhaust, so I'll tuck it under some heat shielding, and going to thermal wrap it.

Work is progressing, slowly but steadily.

ETA for completion is still early next year, but things are moving along well. Hoping to get all the painting of small tidbits I need before winter sets in.

LOLOLOL. Winter down here is like, a cold front for 2 days and then it's back to running the ac.
I can't wait for winter to start tearing apart my car so I can get outta this fucking heat.

Mainly concerned with being able to paint trim, and other small items as the car gets closer to being finished.
It's either too cold to paint things, or too humid to paint things. :(

Autox for raw time locally without regard for being competitive nationally or on PAX is about all I can come up with... Maybe drive it to lunch randomly on nice days? :wasteful:

Even knowing that, I still want one. :fullretard:
I'd just like to own something cool and old and analog.
Quickest way to do this for me would be to go to one of those Mecum auctions and start ordering Manhattans. Although the bidding is insane on stuff like ZOMG 1968 L-88 Corvette stored in Lee Iacoccas personal collection since new, the big stuff cloaks some really good buys on things, muscle cars to imports that aren'te quite dick swinger collector material but are still REALLY nice cars, and often go at much cheaper prices than on E-bay, etc. My gf would kill me doe.

Update time.

Painted the engine block.

Image

Image

Replaced the front crank seal, and oil shaft seal. The oil pump is driven off the timing belt.

Image

Began to reassemble the engine.

Image

Image

Image

Painted pulleys, and restored the aluminium components.

Image

Before:

Image

After:

Image

Installed new sound deadening behind the dash.

Image

Put the front bumper on, and mocked up the headlights and grill, I have a few more things to install before I'll put these on permanently.

Image

Image

Began working on the intake manifold, got it taken apart and cleaned up. Eagle 1 wheel cleaner knocked out 90% of the oily residue in the runners, it's damn near brand new now.

Image

Image

Got the new brake booster, and master cylinder installed with the proportioning valve, and a few other items installed as well.
Did a lot of shop cleaning, as I'm going into the phase where more things are being put on the car, than taken off, I find myself needing to catalog every nut and bolt.
It's definitely a challenge, but immensely rewarding when it all goes back together.

Oh shit, the new grill on it looks the :tits:

Saw this a couple of weeks ago and it's pretty pimp. I'll be in your baby shoes when I get that 1.8L motor from Patrick and start to tear it apart. Gotta make some garage space. I envy the width of your garage. DAT GAP allows for so many shelving activities.

Image

Image

Installed new 19# Injectors, and the throttle body to the intake manifold.

Scored an online PDF, and courtesy of GHD, I was able to print it out and have a comprehensive electrical manual.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Installed the trunk lid, and all the trunk liners.

Image

Image

Fuel door

Image

Installed sound deadening, and then the carpet.

Image

Image

Installed refurbished air meter, and treated the airbox plastic, among various other pieces.

Image

Painted the mirrors.

Image

Waiting on a part to come in from Das Fatherlund (I broke my first replacement :derp: ) So, I started on the front subframe replacement, front suspension, and the oil pan.
Hoping to finish the oil pan install this weekend. Coated wheel arches, and under body with under body coating.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Reinforced and powdercoated front subframe, with new 2.7 lock-lock steering rack. OEM was 4.0

Image

Installed the valve cover, and spark plug wires.
