53. I've been fortunate to have no major physical issues but I'm starting to get to the point where I am indeed "just happy to be here man."

Happy Birthday! Agree that mortality becomes more real with age (and near death experiences), have fun with the cars!Desertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 6:32 pm53. Tomorrow is my birthday, I may take the afternoon off and poke around the VW and Caddy dealership.
Happy birthday man, glad you’re healthy, pursuing some sick cars, and here hanging out with all of us weirdos.

Well, my $34,100 Shift estimate expired on Saturday, December 28. Today's revised estimate from Shift? $28,300!!!!!!! That ship sailed.
Which is fine. New Brahhoe arrives Tuesday or Wednesday, I wil rehab old Brahhoe and Desertspec new one, one thing at a time. Floundering around for months in this chip shortage is not for me.

But yea, this madness is not for the faint of heart. Fortunately, it'll be coming to an end soon.

I just have to face the facts that the replacement new vehicles I want ATM are not available, not available at MSRP, not orderable, or in the GM examples come with ridiculous deficiencies caused by chip shortages that should never be borne in a $65K+ vehicle. I just need to calm the fuck down and keep driving a perfectly serviceable vehicle for another year.

It's the crux of the problem with offing used cars for prices right now. There WILL be compromises with what you replace it with. Be it timing, features, model selection, whatever. The best thing to do right now is sell and not replace, but that's not feasible for most. Those would could do that have done it by now.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 3:03 pmI just have to face the facts that the replacement new vehicles I want ATM are not available, not available at MSRP, not orderable, or in the GM examples come with ridiculous deficiencies caused by chip shortages that should never be borne in a $65K+ vehicle. I gotta make sure I still off the Tessie at a neutral price. But getting a bit worried

OK Doods. This is my latest Plac move, occurring in December of 2021, so late getting it posted up.
2019 Tahoe Premier Plus with 20.5K miles on it, bought it off lease from a friend, MSRP was $78,670, it has every option I got a MAJOR bro deal on this rig, a product of about 35 years of friendship. It is essentially a Chevy Tahoe in GMC Denali/Escalade trim. 6.2 liter 420 hp with the 10 speed. It is literally in showroom condition in and out and underneath except for a bit of driver seat wear and one blemish on a rear seat. When my buddy ordered it I told him I wanted it at the end of the lease, he has moved on to a BMW X5M.
Things I added:
1. Professional Ceramic Coat, $1500
2. Hotchkis Sway Bars, $500
3. BROLA cat back, $1200, $300 install.
4. Janky (according to Johnny P) Weathertech floor mats. I chose them because they came in the same color as the seats, mahogany or whatever. A few hundo.
First, let's get the things that are stupid about this truck out of the way:
1. 22 inch wheels. Yes, they make the ride way worse than it should be. The mag ride shocks help a bit, but you can feel the Chariot RAMZ. The only cool thing about these wheels is that I can upgrade to the BREMBRO six piston fronts when it is time to change pads. Those require 20 inch or larger.
2. The automatic running boards. Up and down and up and down and up and down. They will fail, and I will have to cough up 3 grand.
3. ATROCIOUS fuel mileage around town, even with a light pedal.
4. 4 inches of length and .5 inch of width over the GMT 800, never welcome, but still 6 inches shorter than the new independent suspension T1 version, which is really just suburban length at this point.
The Good:
1. BROLA a HUGE add. Truck sounds bad ass without sounding stupid,
2. Sway bars ALSO an excellent add. Truck corners flat, ass end rotates nicely. Front was 30% stiffer than stock, rear was like 70% stiffer.
3. The SEATS. These things are well constructed, VERY COMFORTABLE thrones.
4. Strong power with the L87 and the Schwinn. I like the 10 speed a fair amount. It provides better highway mileage than the GMT 800. 1800rpm @ 90 mph.
5. It's basically a luxury car with 4WD and a lift kit. Lots of room, the the modern bells and whistles.
6. Headlights are bad ass.
7. Good Exterior Color (Blue Grey, not white, Black or Red) with Mahogany/Black interior.
Fresh from Ceramic Dude.
Less rear space than the GMT 800 because the third seat folds flat instead of coming out.
Hotchkis RSB next to stock
I did not like the plastic gold bowtie on the rear or front so I removed the rear and put a billet chrome aluminum one on the front.

An update we all deserve! I need to see if I have you tracked in the tracker.
Wait the GMT400 has an EXTRA BOWTIE in the bootyhole and the new one is not to be bothered by it?

I replaced the bootyhole cover with one of those Weathertech steps. Although not pictured, the new rig has a painted plastic cover on the hitch receiver (I was having it refinished when the photos too place. There are now ZERO BOWTIES in the rear, booty or otherwise.
