It inspired me to spend some more $$$ on more advanced instruction. It was a lot of fun but there was really very little driving advice dispensed.

Did they run 255s on the non M during this event?Desertbreh wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 5:27 pmAs you have discussed at length, "real" Mcars have stiff suspensions, big tires and big power, and these are the features that rule on the track. As noted the X6M in particular drove with a lot of control for being a lifted vehicle. The M550i and M760i were all soft by comparison. We each got a "hot lap" at the end in the passenger seat of an M4 while the instructors basically burnt rubber and drove in anger for 5 minutes, which was like going on an amusement ride.
If I was going to BMW myself and actually purchase, I would most certainly look into the M2 Competition. The M240i is a fine vehicle, but not materially different than the car I own. With regard to your issues with the non M cars, that can be remedied with a square 255 setup BUT to rotate you would have to remount the tires because the front 255 will only work with a different offset than the rear.
In any event my next move is ditching the Brahhoe for a but that will not be happening in Calendar year 2019.
The M sport models are quite noodely, especially the more you move up the lineup. The 228i M is still stiffish, whereas a 550i is a noodle, can't even imagine a 7.
Rotation seems irrelevant since even stock you can't. At least with the 255 you could do some.... Tire life is quite shitty on most models due to the weird Spec tires. 20-35k miles tops on all of the performance models.

No, they were 225s on the M240i. They were Contiental summer tarz, apparently Conti gives them 2500 tires a year as part of their sponsorship gig. The magic of the 7 was the 601hp TT V-12 and awd. Mash the gas and hold on. It's a ship powered by a nuclear reactor.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 11:44 amDid they run 255s on the non M during this event?Desertbreh wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 5:27 pm

The tracks were short with many hairpins and I found the M240is ass ends slid pretty well. It was just a half day orchestrated event, notta lotta time to think about it.

So I've paid big bucks for the Lotus experience in England and the instructor wasn't as good as just the regular Joe Shmoe HPDE guys. Hit up your local track in the novice group - in my experience the instruction has been awesome and the cost isn't insane.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 9:05 pmIt inspired me to spend some more $$$ on more advanced instruction. You probably wouldn't have wanted to be there anyway.
So, did you schedule one for you yet?

Ron, I'm going to go sit on my ass in NOLA and drink a bunch of cocktails amongst airboat nation for a week. In 2019 I'll start worrying about how to make it to my retirement.

I would greatly enjoy meeting the local population sometime. It's Xmas doe, and everybody is busy af, you guys don't actually live in NOLA and the woman and I are looking for some downtime. I don't think inspecting Melon's E30 project is going to meet her qualifications for "downtime" as impossible to comprehend as that might be.dubshow wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 4:35 pmwell shit son. Also, realtalk...when you decide to off the Tahbro...you give me right of first refusal. I want that thing.
I'll fly out to CA and drive it back. I'll pay for the bar tabs.
