Before everyone chimes in with how stupid buying the diesel would be, and overall I agree, I'm interested in seeing them tested.

Costs too much over the Pentastar, you'll never get the money back in fuel savings, not enough of a performance (torque) bump over the Pentastar, Pentastar is fine, Italian Diesel? Does that even sound reliable?SAWCE wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 8:19 pmWhy would it be stupid?Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 7:45 pm Before everyone chimes in with how stupid buying the diesel would be, and overall I agree, I'm interested in seeing them tested.

Ah i hadn’t looked at pricing to see how much of a premium it’s going to command.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 8:28 pmCosts too much over the Pentastar, you'll never get the money back in fuel savings, not enough of a performance (torque) bump over the Pentastar, Pentastar is fine, Italian Diesel? What do you want to know about it? My buddy has had his in his RAMZ 1500, which I drove a fair amount. It pulls the 5900# truck with ease. Great motor in terms of MPG and NVH. However, it is a heavy ass lump. 300-400lbs MORE than the 3.6 V6. It will be a pretty decent fit in the JL, but it will cost an arm and a leg to maintain+5k initial upcharge.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 7:45 pm Before everyone chimes in with how stupid buying the diesel would be, and overall I agree, I'm interested in seeing them tested.
10.5 Quart Oil capacity and fancy spec oil
$20 oil filter
The oil change is literally $200+ at the stillershit. Parts alone are nearly $100. Which is INSANE. The oil change on my m3 costs $40 in parts.

Much more low end grunt which is a very desireable characteristic for a Jeep.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:50 pmDriving characteristics v. Pentastar. Offroad characteristics v. Pentastar.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:23 pm

420torque vs 270, at 1800 rpm vs 3500 rpm. Nvh is comparable. Mpg will be around 15-20% better.
But engine doesn’t rev past 4000 not that it truly needs to.
Off-road no idea, don’t think any power is needed due to low range t case multiplying even the 3.6 more than enough. The extra weight of the 3.0 may be a burden though. It’s all over the front wheels etc.

We did the diesel thing. I have zero ambition to go back, and i drive the ideal diesel friendly scenario. Long highway hauls, sustained speed, mild weather for three seasons.

also #metoo about wanting a JLU. Don't think it suits my lifestyle at all with the two hour cottage drives once a week. Sadly i think I'll be relegated to a fuel efficient car with a long final drive next.
The piss tank thing really sucks, I've dealt with it for the past five years in the F550. The piss ain't exactly cheap and (at least on the Ford setup) it's a pain in the ass to fill, it gets all over your shoes and stains 'em. The Ford design is such that the filler neck angle is almost parallel to the ground, so if you try to fill it at a truck stop, the pump will just immediately click off. So you have to fill with the jugs and the aforementioned shoe splash problem happens. Diesel fucking sucks man. I would never own one after driving one for 85k miles.

Been looking for GT3s again today and kinda at the prices. New ones with <50 miles have a $50k+ market adjustment. "New" ones with 3k miles have a $30k markup.
I think they are telling me to forget about a 911 and leave them to the guys with less brains than me.

Can’t you just buy a gayman to appease your sales man and a cayenne for the wife then you’ll be allowed to put an order in with your saleshole after a bj and an all paid trip to grand Cayman Islands. Last I checked that’s how it works.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 10:41 pm Been looking for GT3s again today and kinda at the prices. New ones with <50 miles have a $50k+ market adjustment. I mean asking $240K for a GT3 with an MSRP of $175K.... I think I'd rather spend:$220K for a Turbo S.
The thoughts of this makes my Z07 more and more attractive.

People shopping said vehicle give little fucks about the price. That’s just how it works in that price range. Such exclusivity much wowCorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:03 pmYeah, I heard that story too.

As well it should. If you're going to be Euroboy cheesedick buy a Rolex for your wife and gamble in Monte Carlo for 2 weeks.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:03 pmYeah, I heard that story too.

I think you really have to be a hardcore fanboi to go for a higher end Porsche. And don't forget to factor in the level of douchedom you need to achieve to pull off ownership. All the Porsche hats, polos, jackets, flags, etc you need to sport ALL THE TIME. That alone is a high cost of entry.

I mean... I'd take a Gayman GT4. But like... if you're a cheapass, the Corvette always wins. At the poverty level, a $15k C5 dusts a $15k Boxster all day in any metric. On the high end... a C7Z06 makes any $100k Porsche look like a goddamn joke. Past that point... well. Whatever. GT3 is badass but can't you get a Ferd GT for that money?
Just hold out for the mid engine Richvette. You'll be happier anyway.

After sleeping on it I think I've talked myself out of ever buying a 911 again. I was in this camp before, but I think that this is final now.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 6:13 amDesertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:37 pm

There's no way I want a basic 911. There just isn't enough perf/$ factor there. $140K for a car that can't perform better than a $59K C7 Grand Sport? No thank you. In order to get me into a 911 it would need to be a Turbo S or something like the GT3, the others just don't make sense to me coming from the Z06/Z07.
I have never paid MSRP+ on a car. Not when I ordered the 2014 Z51 and others were asking markups of $5-$10k, or any other car. I can't see breaking this principle for a car as there is already profit built into the price, not even $1k over makes sense to me, so why would I start now on a car that has an artificial markup of $30K, or up to $60K ? If I paid $60K over for a 911 it better come with an $80K Gayman S for my wife.
So now it looks like I'll just wait on the ME C8. At least there I know I can get one at MSRP at the worst case, if I want to be an early adopter and get another first year car.

My only concern is, how much is Chevy going to ask for the ME C8? The ZR1 is already almost $150K.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:32 am I mean... I'd take a Gayman GT4. The Ford GT is $450K.
For that shit I'd pull out all the stops and rather have an Italian supercar, but reality is I don't have any reason to waste that much money on a car when there is so much better places to use that money.
