Just sent in my first UOA at 9,000 miles. You know, for No real reason, just sounded like fun.
3,000 miles on Motul X-clean 5w30. This was my third run with the oil, I changed out the factory fill at 1k miles, then changed again at 3k and 6k. We'll see if my EJ is already trying to itself.

Most BMWs don't even get their first oil change by 9k... that engine is basically a virgin that had nothing but missionary every other Sunday before church.coogles wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 2:11 pm Just sent in my first UOA at 9,000 miles. You know, for No real reason, just sounded like fun.

And the UOA will probably still have at least some level of silver (bearing material) in it. These engines are garbage.max225 wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 5:12 pmMost BMWs don't even get their first oil change by 9k... that engine is basically a virgin that had nothing but missionary every other Sunday before church.coogles wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 2:11 pm Just sent in my first UOA at 9,000 miles. Plenty of people put a lot of mileage on these engines with no bearing issues. The only real given on the EJ is it'll need head gaskets at some point in its life, generally between 100k-150k miles.

Plenty have, but many have changed their oil religiously and spun a bearing at 40k miles. We'll see!Johnny_P wrote:Plenty of people put a lot of mileage on these engines with no bearing issues. All exhausts are retard priced anymore. For AWE, this is a reasonable cost. But I don't think it's their best sounding product..... check out the M235i / S4 AWE exhaust sounds

Oh I've listened to plenty of their S4 vids, haven't checked out the BMW stuff, though.
And yeah, $1,500 from AWE for a touring edition really isn't terrible. Most are $1,200ish, it seems, then there's the priced Milltek for $1,800. Only reasonably priced option is the Q300, but I guess even though that's considered a more quiet exhaust it drones pretty badly. AWE touring sounds like it adds some volume with no drone. Perfect.

Yeah I think they make it a point to have no drone.coogles wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 12:15 pmOh I've listened to plenty of their S4 vids, haven't checked out the BMW stuff, though.

Chinese mufflers? Doesn't AWE make all of their stuff in-house?Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 12:25 pmYeah I think they make it a point to have no drone.coogles wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 12:15 pm
