Don't you make all the money ? Come to NC. We like coffee here too. We went to this really neat coffee shop in a London double decker in Asheville a few weeks ago.

Honestly, probably just going to park it. The love affair is fading. Focus on the truck and getting the Volt done so it's not a DD and figure it out later.Tarspin wrote: ↑Sun May 06, 2018 9:07 amDetroit wrote:Took the on it's first long distance trip since the cam...and there's a horrible booming resonance between 2k and 2.5k rpm. In4deets. Good luck doe.
Its frustrating to deal with old car problems. I've been paying to keep mine problem free but at least once a year I'm dealing with one big issue (leaky diff/harmonic) and a few small ones. This year it's some dash jarring vibration coming from the shifter. When I get it back I'll change my fluids and take the shifter assembly apart. If I can't find anything then I'll be going the route and having a pro deal with it. If it turns into another 2k fix (i.e. torque tube) I may consider offing next spring.

It's not exhaust related...it has stock Z06 mufflers on it that are quite tame.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Sun May 06, 2018 1:58 pmThrow a resonator in the exhaust systemDetroit wrote: ↑Sun May 06, 2018 9:03 am Took the on it's first long distance trip since the cam...and there's a horrible booming resonance between 2k and 2.5k rpm. Does it make the sound with the clutch in and out? Not moving just revving in the driveway? Any chance the exhaust hit something and bent a hanger or whatever so it's now resting against something it shouldn't?Detroit wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 9:05 amIt's not exhaust related...it has stock Z06 mufflers on it that are quite tame.
Took my dad for a ride last night, he suspects the flywheel could be slightly out of balance. I pulled the belts and confirmed that it's not any of the accy's on the front, so that really just leaves the flywheel/clutch and the balancer. I'm legit concerned that the shop that balanced the clutch screwed it up. I've always noticed a rumble in that RPM range, but never sit in that RPM range long enough to bother me. If it's the $1k clutch...I...don't know what I'm going to do. Probably just buy a cheap LS7 clutch to hopefully fix it and off it quickly before something else breaks.
Yep, clutch in or out, it'll do it revving in the driveway. Exhaust is clear of everything, I've checked a ton.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 9:16 amDoes it make the sound with the clutch in and out? Not moving just revving in the driveway? If Infamous can rev the car while you listen to the motor you might be able to pinpoint it.
Dang dude hope you get this figured out.

It's has to be the clutch/flywheel. The good news is that it can't be THAT out of balance because you can't feel it. It's just a rumbling sound, but you can't feel the vibration...which means if it is out, it's a tiny amount. I'm thinking about putting some washers under select pressure plate bolts to see if I can add weight and fix the balance that way.
Yea, this has been a concern in the back of my mind since I noticed it last year. This is the first time I trusted the car enough to go distance, and the concern has moved to the front of my mind.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 9:42 amdamn dudeDetroit wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 9:20 am

While I won't buy another Vette while I live here.
Driving them in MI generally sucks, unless you mod it specifically for that... i.e. run 17s with sidewall and a reasonable ride height and something like koni FSD shocks.D Griff wrote:I still like Corvettes

Oh, I love Corvettes. If I lived somewhere else, I'd be 5/7
I probably should try Konis...but I'm kind of over dumping money into this car.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 1:01 pmDriving them in MI generally sucks, unless you mod it specifically for that... i.e. run 17s with sidewall and a reasonable ride height and something like koni FSD shocks.D Griff wrote:I still like Corvettes
