Oof. That I don't want. Hopefully being around superior beetles rubs off on it.
This should definitely be my next car though. TRD Camry.

STIs scrape. Ask me how I knowfledonfoot wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:13 pmWe can pull a 918 in no problem. The only thing that scrapes is the front splitter on a 911 RSR Cup car.
You’ll threewheel the exit though...

lol. $600 alignments...Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 2:27 pm TSB #01-18-02 applied to fix misfires. We'll see how it works.
I asked this diller about the alignment and he said it also requires recalibration. $599 and half a day's work. VW has gotta be the only manufacturer to require this.

My M3 alignment cost $100 (at a good indy). Yolo. This is on a golf.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 2:30 pmlol. $600 alignments...Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 2:27 pm TSB #01-18-02 applied to fix misfires. We'll see how it works.

It's not the car, it's the dynamic cruise control calibration. Book rate is about 3 hours on a Macan that uses the same equipment as the R. The alignment is probably $120 and they're then adding 3-4 hours of labor on top of it.
That's insane. Might as well setup a separate building only for alignments at that point.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 2:54 pmIt's not the car, it's the dynamic cruise control calibration. The calibration is truly a bitch and a half to do. It never goes in the first time, and you need 15-20 feet of empty space all around the car while it's being calibrated. If someone encroaches, you're booted out and it's back to square one.
Anything with a front facing camera or radar that's tied in to auto/emergency braking, lane change/keep assist and certain blind spot systems requires calibration if you start messing with it. It's everywhere now, with all of the sensors, cameras, "safety" and "convenience".

Well yeah a normal alignment is $100 but the refuse to do it without recalibration. Tack on $500 for all that bullshit.
But as I’ve said a few times already, if the alignment is out of whack enough to screw with the radar cruise, you’ll get a fault on the dash... even before you align it. If you do the alignment and the cruise doesn’t work properly then you need the calibration and just bite the bullet.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 4:40 pmWell yeah a normal alignment is $100 but the refuse to do it without recalibration. This shit is pure insanity. Say some hits a pothole. That'll be $600 please. Every damn time. I get it if you need a new windshield or you need to have sensors replaced but for just an ordinary alignment?
Yep. Its just frustrating to find a place that's competent cause clearly my local indy shop didn't want to do an alignment.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 9:25 pmBut as I’ve said a few times already, if the alignment is out of whack enough to screw with the radar cruise, you’ll get a fault on the dash... even before you align it. We do several alignments a day with a similar system... we only recalibrate when a camera is touched, windshield replaced, or a car comes in from a body shop.
So 10k seems fine .... those god damn engineers were wrong again ! 3months or 3k my dad did it and so did his dad and his dad. Before then that’s how we changed horseshoes.
As thin as that oil is I wouldn't buy their fuel dilution numbers for a second. Guaranteed that oil is loaded with fuel, doesn't seem to have impacted wear (yet), but with the short tripping I do and the fuel dilution I'm probably seeing too, I'm sticking with 5k changes.
Why shouldn't I trust their fuel dilution number?coogles wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:59 amAs thin as that oil is I wouldn't buy their fuel dilution numbers for a second.
