I do think about a cornflower blue rabbit edition GTI with a . Upgrade the infotainment from the poverty radio and do the exhaust and call it a day. Cheaper, simpler car with no gizmos. Just fun.

I didn't realize they put the 6mt into the B58 awd cars. I guess 2016 was the last model year for awd andJohnny_P wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 10:43 amI drove a RWD 235 with 8AT when I had my MK6 GTI. The GTI was a better driver. Better steering, brake feel, better sorted suspension, more immediate turn in, and sounded a hell of a lot better. The 8AT is partly to blame I think, it was pretty meh but I only had it in normal mode not bro mode.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 10:40 am

The 235 had a much nicer interior, better stereo, faster.
This one looks damn good.

I really like those red sport seats.
Right? The ONLY thing I don't like about it is the black wood but since it's black it really doesn't stand out. If it were brown that'd be a problem.
Both sport packs with 18" wheels is awesome too.

A GTI is not "funner" than an M235i. The flugmaster's disdain for the 2 series is based on the test of an automatic version that had its transmission in mode. A or switching the tranny to sport or "very sport" should solve all of that. The N55 two series is an absolute rocketship compared to the FWD, rev hanging, rubber shifting, water pump blowing, sunroof leaking Kraut shitbox. When you mash the gas and shit goes by in a hurry, that is another word for "fun"

Yes it did. It was fully loaded at 58k. Once again if you don’t wrench yourself keep maintenance and repair costs in mind. Bmw maintenance doesn’t transfer anymore. $200 oil changes are “normal” both my cars don’t need brakes ever though, I think it’s my driving style. 140k for m3 and 120k for the 335.
If you can do basic things like plugs and filters that car is actually quite cheap to own outside of the epic depreciation which will continue down to 5k in 5 years.

Fun to me is how connected I am to the way the car drives. In that regard I found the GTI more fun than the 2.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 2:59 pmA GTI is not "funner" than an M235i. The only issues I had with my 235i were that it needed more power, so I added a JB4. Power issue fixed.
Problem 2: even in sport mode the suspension was too soft.
My JB4 m235i manual was worlds better than my APR stage 2 mk6 GTI manual with light wheels and my APR stage 2+ mk6 R manual with an upgraded race Haldex controller.

Well when 15 minutes is all you get to make a decision on a $35k purchase you go with your first feelings and impressions. It’s likely I would have bought that car had I put it in full bro mode or if it had an MT. But the salesperson couldn’t be bothered with me. And my first impression was the GTI had much better steering and turn in and suspension tune.
But who cares. I’m just some dude on the internet who knows nothing.

Yeah but you also had the Z06 at the time so you're used to 650hp. How did it compare stock vs the stage 2 R? A stage 2 Mk6 R had similar power right?CorvetteWaxer wrote:RWD>FWD

The power was about the same, but even with the Haldex race controller that was supposed to make the care more RWD balanced, the m235i felt better to me. I absolutely hate FWD cars that have any power though. Trying to launch the GTI was never a good situation and the R was better but still felt weird.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 8:34 amYeah but you also had the Z06 at the time so you're used to 650hp. Both the R and the GTI also had suspension too, H&R swaybars on both, the GTI had lowering springs and the R had KW coilovers.
Other than the 4 door in the R, would rather the m235i every day of the week. If I had bought the car instead of leasing it (I was waiting on the M2), I would probably have done suspension on the 235i to stiffen it up and I might still have it now. Since it was a lease I didn't want to do anything to it that I couldn't easily replace. The JB4 was a 10 minute install/removal and didn't tweak the computer, so no warranty issues.
Dropped the car off this morning. The 5F module just being replaced. Luckily they're in stock at the distributor so it'll be here tomorrow.
Also, front wheel is bent AGAIN along with tire bubbles. Getting a new tar and ram because of the wheel and tar insurance thing I took out. It was only $1k IIRC so it probably almost paid for itself right there.
