No not at all, I just want to let you know that I'm not pitching a golf to you whatsoever. It is not on my radar. Cheap out, by WRX.

Edit: used AF, target the lowest priced one in good shape.

Wrx is high on the list as is a used sti. Finding a used limited 18 +wrx is nearly impossible ... but I’ll continue looking. However a used 2018 sti seems rather easy to find and is a full 8-10k cheaper than new. It would minimize my pain if I was to off it in 18/24 months

:notbad: the Subies are a great choice IMO. The STI seems like a cool moment in time, more “analog” then we will really see again.

How many miles do you drive a month? They both take premium, no?

You'll likely average 20 MPG in the STI. Also about 220-240 miles a tank.

Tank is 15.9.... same size as my m3 and I usually get 20-21 in the m3 and fill up around 14-15 gallons or ... 280/300 miles.

220 miles a tank is filling up 2x a week for me :disgust:

Beats me. I usually get about 210 ish to a tank. But I'm all inner city. If you're all highway it should be a bit better.

Brand new gen sti/wrx coming within 12 months ...
Timing to purchase one now seems a bit odd.

Like getting a 2018 JK ?

I mean this is no surprise. 2021 all new WRX and STI. Current gen is on an older chassis than the Impreza.

Yea I suppose I never researched it ... but this does make some sense ... car is only around 5 model years old though.... new one will likely be much more expensive :doe:

Yep and faster. The 2.4T is no joke. Rumor is new STI could be a hybrid.

No. It will have 4 more horsepower and look pretty much the same. Plus do you want a first year Subaru engine change? No you don't. So that means you'd have to wait 24 months to even start to filter the problems and teething issues. You're looking at getting a slightly used car for 30 grand that is fun and doesn't depreciate much. The fact that the STI is the poster child for "evolution, not revolution" means your 2018 will hardly be a boat anchor overnight in the JK vs. JL or 2010 Mustang GT 4.6 vs. 2011 Coyote type scenarios.
