Just two. A MKV and a MKVI. Different gens, so I don't consider them the "same car". :iono:

I've never owned two of the same generation vehicle.
I have had very similar cars... I think a mkV and MK6 are really similar... a mk7 is also quite similar... I think a mk 7.5 is however quite far from a mk5. But the 1 gen leaps are quite close.
The leap from 5/6 to 7/7.5 is huge due to the MQB platform.

Yea, the 5/6 were rather similar, but still different IMO. I loved both cars, really.

To me it is more of an engine/trans/tech leap than the platform or the styling.
TFSI to 3rd gen EA888 is about a 50% actual power bump + 1 extra gear + digit dashes, better infotainment, stereos etc.

Regardless of all of that, please don't get another Fake Sport... just a big :nope:

Not that they're bad cars, but they're not great enough to justify 2/3 last cars, and after the M3 it'll be boring as hell.

Yea it is furthest down the bottom of my list. WRX/STI/JCW are more likely.

You should get an insurance quote on a WRX/STI first.

I bet you'll :nope: out solely due to that.
Already did. It is 20-30% cheaper than the M3.

Trying to pick my way back through this thread.

JCWs are stupid rare because they just didn't make a ton of them. When I was at Princeton MINI - we only got a small handful per year (maybe 5-6 total).

Fun cars, though. 228 HP and light and tossable with waxables and great feature content.
What do they weigh?

Well this is half a car... my m3 is like 500lbs heavier but it’s 30” longer has a real back seat a real trunk, an extra turbo +1 liter of displacement, 2 more fuel pumps and 2 more cylinders
