Mass transit isn't an option for my job. I have to be at meetings all over the place because my company doesn't have an office. So meetings take place in Allentown, Perth Amboy, Pennsauken, Swedesboro, etc.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:51 amIf you have to live that life and can't move I'd probably walk, bike, or brave mass transit. Always wondering if my car was getting raped wouldn't sit with me.
The construction site, when construction actually starts, is 25 mins away by car, 1:04 away by mass transit which doesn't even run early enough for the 6AM start that will be required.

A wrongler would have been equally fucked, possibly moreso because flat sheets of steel have less structural integrity than curved and sculpted ones. Literally nothing would have come away from this unscathed.

Basically this. Lady said it's classified as a "not at fault" accident. $500 deductible. Boom.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:41 amMy opinion still stands.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:39 am
Do that a couple times and see how fast you get dropped by your insurance company.
These days they can't wait to increase your premium or drop you if you even use your benefit you pay for.
Question now is, it'll be at the body shop anyway... pay cash for a new rear bumper and tail light? Or make a separate claim for that, which is another $500 and 2 insurance claims at the same time.
If I'm bring it back to like-new, might as well actually bring it back to like-new.

Sucks. I would tell you to move but I hate it when people say that about me and California.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 9:44 amMass transit isn't an option for my job. Maybe buy a $1500 disposable car/van and start parallel parking by feel like everyone else? As they say, if you can't beat them, join them.

Wifey was obliterated in the Mini, with an admission of fault from the driver plus a police report verifying the person that hit her ran a stop sign and pulled into traffic, and I’m still being hit with surcharges.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:41 amMy opinion still stands.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:39 am

Hell, when I was rear ended at a stop light because someone plowed into the car behind me, I called my insurance company to report it and ended up having to make an uninsured motorist claim. When I shopped insurance in the spring, I’m still penalized by that too.

truly, you're in a tough spot as obviously you live where you live and the city has perks, but it sucks for car ownershit. I'd likely try to go for a ZFG mobile if I were you.

Literally why I haven't done anything.
Go forth and spend money on a vehicle that:
a) You don't care at all about
b) Will park willingly on the street and in sketchy spots knowing it will get bashed up
c) Replaces a vehicle you truly love and drives like a wet turd compared to that vehicle
Sounds great, where do I sign up?

I guess. That walk sucks in the cold and snow. I have no idea on the price but probably $300/mo. 3 months of garage = 1 bumper.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 12:01 pmDude, I would seriously consider this. Just get a skateboard, or if the weather sucks Uber there.
