Oh wow, interesting idea.

Other options are Lexus LX470 or GX470, or hell even a current gen JGC.

They're all so big :doe:

Fine on the west coast, but trails are way tighter in the midwest/east.

GX470 isn't that big, like 188x73" footprint on a 110" wheelbase?

Oh shit, I was thinking the LX Land Cruiser thing.

The GX is like a V8 4Runner right?

:dat:

With superior interior and somehow lower prices. 6500 lb towing capacity and bulletproof V8. :truckyeah:

I think it's what JP should buy - and put a fun exhaust on it for vroom vroom noises.

What's it based on? Any aftermarket for suspension improvements, etc? This would benefit from a bit more ground clearance IMO.

They have air suspension :fancy: but kits exist to switch to steel springs. And then it's basically open the 4R flood gates aftermarket-wise. They look properly rowdy with a lift, wheels/tars, and a steel bumper.

That thing probably gets 12 MPG on a good day.

Good thing you only do 12 miles per year!

The whole mpg thing is why I haven't further investigated one as a tow vehicle. They seem pretty solid otherwise.

It's the Land Cruiser Prado overseas.

Plenty of aftermarket because it's a 4Runner underneath.

Insanely stupid lead time and they will price themselves out of the market with those wait times if they can’t scale to fit demand.

I don't think you understand the overland market.

It's slightly ridiculous.

I know a guy that bought one of these for his ZR2 because it was "cheap...under $10k".

Makes zero sense. I want to make overland products.

It's a bubble that will bust at some point.

But fuck it, make hay while there's hay to make.
Oh, no doubt.

What do you guys think of Gobi stealth racks btw, are they actually useful, or would you stick to hitch-based attachments?

Loading snowboards up, and if overlanding with more than 1 passenger (2door wrangler trunk space is non-existent), then i'd use the roof for loading up extra stuff like tents and packs
