Yeah to answer the call of the question, Airline fares SHOULD cost enough to keep the airline in business.

/unpopular opinion/ yes and slightly more than that, just to keep another 10% of potential pax to stay at home.

Immigration at IAD last week took 2 hours..

A glimpse of how bad things really could get was provided the other day at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2019 trade show in Hamburg, Germany.

The event featured plenty of innovations intended to make air travel more comfortable for those who can afford top-dollar trimmings, including first-class and business-class seats with lots of amenities.

And then there was the Italian seat manufacturer Aviointeriors, which displayed the latest iteration of its Skyrider "standing seat." It's an idea that the company unveiled about a decade ago and keeps refining to make it more appealing to airlines.

Imagine a bicycle seat with a lightly padded, upright piece of plastic to lean against.
:thisisfine:

if only an upstart could offer reliable, well priced and comfortable flights.

Going to Puerto Vallarta over Thanksgiving. A few notes.

1. San Diego has the CBX (Cross Border Express) which allows you to walk to the Tijuana Airport and board usually much cheaper Volaris (Mexican) airline to travel.....we've used this before but the Volaris seats were hard af and.........a bit of a shitshow. $1000 for two tix roundtrip.

2. Used Alaska Companion fare and got same price on bulkhead seats, the ones right behind first class (which are :thisisfine:, you get good legroom.........BUT....we noted the aisle and center seats on the bulkhead seats (which you pay extra for) could be used by handicapped persons. So we took the two bulkhead window seats on either side. It would be less than pleased to get tossed to the back of the bus because some handicapped person (real or imagined) wanted my seat. Anyone had experience with this?

3. First class was $3000 for two seats and they were not allowing a points upgrade to use them, they wanted the $$$$. So unlike Hawaii, first class was WAY more here, and for a 3 hour flight. Supply and Demand.
