I'm talking the international carriers, like Lufthansa. They seem to be the most strict. UA seems to be pretty with their int'l size requirements.

I'm 100% certain you are A-1 polite people in all phases. Just having my fun.wap wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 8:36 pmDesertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 6:48 pm
I am a bag checker for all of the above reasons. I also detest imposing on others space, and don't like mine imposed on. So I get on the cattlecar and go to my assigned seat without touching anyone else.
MEANWHILE....
Wronald and his bride have decided to go to Europe for a week but they "like to start their vacation early" so they've stuffed a max-size carryon, have "personal bags" that are too big, and are standing over me whilst jamming their proverbial 10 pounds of shit into a five pound bag. He rinses and repeats upon arrival.
What's even better is people who do this to save $25.
Our carry-ons are international regulation size and go overhead and are small enough to go up quickly. Wife's shoulder bag and my backpack go under the seats.
Slow your anti-Wron wroll.

This.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 9:03 pmI check my bags for a few reasons (transparently, I don't pay for checked baggage due to my status):
1) it makes it much easier to board and disembark
2) I often am on regional aircraft that require jetway checking anyway
3) I find it way easier to 'live in an airport' without a checked bag. Easier to use the bathroom, easier to grab a bite or a drink, easier to find a place to sit.
4) it only adds about ten minutes to your trip and is basically like letting someone else worry about it.
5) at most airports bag transfers for tight connections are faster than a person can walk. They are more likely to hold the plane for you if your bag is on the plane.
Most of the airline apps now track your bag for you in progress so lost bags are super rare.
Unless I'm in a hurry after my flight lands, I almost always check my bag for the reason noted above (also fly Southwest 99% time - free checked bag).

I would have learned that lesson the hard way. Impressive planning.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2018 8:32 am If you have a connecting flight and your layover is in a city in a different climate than your departure and destination, pack one set of clothes for that city. This has kept me from freezing to death in Chicago a couple times due to cancelled flights from snow

With Mileage Plus (United and Star Alliance), I've found that it can take several weeks to a couple of months before travel points hit my account.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2018 9:55 am Check your points account a few days after your trip to make sure it credited correctly. You'd be surprised how often they don't.

I think my November Berlin trip hit in December or January.
