I need to order another set of crank bros pedals. I retired the eggbeaters after 10 years but haven't bought replacements so I'm just swapping them between the dirt bikes. Which is annoying.

Personally I never found anything that was as remotely as comfortable as a set of even the lower end Sidis, but YMMV. A good clipless setup is definitely worthwhile.
Agreed.

I bought low end Sidis 9 years ago, and they're still going. I've beat the hell out of them and they're fine...I've tried other shoes, and have yet to find a pair I like better than my ancient Sidis.

Clipless pedals (SPD) will change the game. You'll be amazed how much easier it is to put power down.

Sidis are too narrow for me. Most comfy shoes I ever had were Mavics. My beat to shit Specialized shoes for MTB are really good though, but falling apart, and the new ones don't breathe at all.

Everyone says Sidis are too narrow...which is interesting because my feet run wide. I must have got a freak pair.

Don't need anything crazy, you can find shoes in the $100 range.

https://www.rei.com/product/141445/shim ... shoes-mens
https://www.rei.com/product/141419/shim ... shoes-mens

I recommend shoes with an actual ratchet strap or boa strap vs. just velcro - you'll get a better hold and less give when pulling up on the pedals.

When you set the pedal cleat up - you want the cleat to be positioned so that the pedal axle runs right under the inner ball of your foot.
I was hoping to find basically anything but black, looking at random crap on Amazon for $50 but no clear winners thus far. #racist

Why the hell cyclists seem to want to be out in the sun all day wearing all black is beyond me. :derp:

It doesn't make much difference on jerseys or bibs actually because they're so thin. But on shoes, yeah. Brighter colored shoes do run a bit cooler. Be wary of white, they get dirty asf super easily.

If it's color you're after: https://www.jensonusa.com/Scott-MTB-Premium-Shoes

I wear white shoes on the road, gray on the MTB.
Mostly looking for light color(s). I don't care if they get dirty.

Swap the 11-32 cassette with a 10-42 and have a nice full range of gears in a simple and sexy package. :wrong:

In other news, my :dedong: stem came in today along with a random used carbon saddle to try for the hell of it. Dunno if I'll have time to try it tonight but it at least seems promising sitting on the bike here. :troywax:

Crockett rides a bit harsh as it’s a CX race bike. The revolt will probably ride smoother and be more high speed stable. One advantage to the CX bike is they usually have a steeper head tube angle so they’re more maneuverable off road.

Then there’s this. All City Zig Zag.
