The second post in this thread shall forever be documentation of the fact that I, in fact, am completely ambivalent about riding bicycles, nor have I done so in approximately 10 years.

I rode the steel bike on Tuesday on final pizza ride. Basically ride to the bar and back. Was ok.

The old DFD more just vanished than burned. I was writing a Volt review for Max when it just poofed away when I hit submit.

I helped @fledonfoot buy a new bike for his woman on Wednesday night while DFD1 was burning to the ground.

2017 Liv Embolden 2, by Giant. It's basically a women's specific Giant Stance.

I took it for a quick ride around the block and despite the funky women's geometry, it's a smooth, relaxed trail bike with 5" of front and rear travel. It's an impressive bike for the money. Just need to dial her in for the wife and it should last her a long, long time.

It's got some eyeball. Just need to get some tape and I'll get it tubeless soon enough for her.

Tubeless would be nice and save a bit of weight / rolling resistance.

Lock on grips if it doesn't have it.

Nicer bike than what I have.

Me too.

Dat Niner doe, it's done good by me.
You have a good bike. Mine is decent too, really. I don't ride it enough to justify anything else. A gravel-ish or cross-y bike would be a good addition for me though. Get that, get rid of my steel bike, replace that with a cheap 30 lb POS hipster fixie.

Oh it's good, and solid... just old.

Waiting for the fork or the wheels to catastrophically fail one day.
That day will then be known to all as "NEW BIKE DAY"

If anyone's looking for a WifeBike, I have a medium 2011 GTw Avalanche 2.0 Disc, with SRAM X7 drivetrain, Avid Juicy 3 brakes and a new RockShox coil fork and a bunch of other stuff. It's just about mint.

Took the wife out to the trails today.

Bike fits her like a glove. She loves it. She's super comfortable on it and you could see the confidence she had that wasn't there on the other one.

Even to the point where she washed out in dry leaves, flipped off it and probably broke her arm.

A year TO THE DAY after the accident in the mini. Same arm, too.

:rage:

It is bad if you take it on a trail. Not bad around town.

Fuck this Specialized Sequoia bullshit waiting game. The big S bikes ain't any better than what is on the market right now, and they're painted matte which fucking BLOWS for a bike that's going offroad.

Actually, I've been kinda impressed with how easy my CAAD has been to clean.

A little windex and a rag and everything comes right off.
I'm thinking an All City Macho King is the ticket. Still steel, still down to get rad. Better tubeset, still CF fork, no rack mounts but everyone uses bags now anyways.

Is that going on right now?

That'd be kinda cool to check out.

Do they have production stuff there, or just handbuilt boutique :gay: stuff that's cool but you can't buy?
Yeah going on now. Some production stuff but way more focus on hand built hipster one offs.

I went. It was mostly :waxer: hipster custom built bikes. But I got to play around with some nice wheels and hubs.

I wanted to find some riding glasses and a helmet. Fail.

Whatever. I might not go next year unless they have some big box manufacturers with attainable priced bikes for me since I'm a plebe.
